Each department has ups and downs of its own. Politics are everywhere. If you keep to yourself, work your work without much disturbing others, you'll have an opportunity of an early promotion. But then it also depends on your teammates and team lead. There's a salary hike every year. There is job security. If you are not coping as they expected, you'll be assigned to a different department and you will be trained and tested in that department. The chance of growth is very slim. You will have your work life balance if you complete your targets on time. There is a very slim chance of innovation. These are my observations from when I worked there as JRA. Compensation is OK based on how quickly you reach your targets. Where as the growth is almost non existent. There is too much work pressure. Team leaders and managers usually do not identify unique strengths of individual teammates.
