Some managers can be very toxic. Even when there is no work for a project, you're still expected to stay in the office without any reason. The managers here often don't have any tasks to do, so they start micromanaging. If you're learning new things, they may question how it will impact the company.

I am not sure about all managers are same there. But my manager does not have management skills. He never share his knowledge to anyone and I didn't learn anything from him. He gives the opportunity only people he likes. He always seek from me that I have to train and share my knowledge to junior developers. In the process of appraisal time, he does not consider leads feedback to give rating to the resources who assigned to the leads. I does like his management. Micromanagement.
