I'll mention about my senior whom I was reporting to: 1. excessive micromanaging - the senior i worked with before the new one came in was very flexible and supported your idea and work, however, the new person wants to make her changes in every type of file. 2. no trust - even if I have answered her question, the senior will then call numerous others to confirm. this isn't the case with me, the senior also doesn't trust what the avp says and goes around asking other people. This wastes a lot of time. 3. Constantly wanting to be on call - this is one of the most annoying things I have faced - once we receive certain instructions for making updates, the senior will then ask me to be on call and make the changes. I really don't understand this. However, as per the senior, it saves time because she can check it while I make the changes. Honestly, it takes double the time because she is never satisfied with what the others are doing. Let me make myself clear that only one person is the whole team is like this and unfortunately I had to report to her. Definitely helps you to get a strong foundation in the field of Research. Good package for a fresher, and will have ample scope on working in global projects. Often trips and parties are conducted for a boost.

Dislikes

Terrible work-culture/ work-life balance. You end up working on the weekends at times. In my experience, leaves were granted after lot of personal questions and judging mentality. Continuously demotivated by the manager despite working long hours. Ridiculous timelines for the deliverables. Doesn't have a proper forum or opportunity for the employees to express their grievances.

Compensation is good given the location I work from i.e. Kolkata

Work allocation and work pressure is uncertain, poor work life balance, 10-12 hours is average working hours/day for most of the employees. Annual increment is very low given the amount of effort everyone puts in and there is hardly any scope for new technical skill development.

Tobacco Division has limited growth, poor culture, snd non-existent work life balance. Individuals are not allowed to grow or seek out new opportunities. Lots of favouritism abundant and little to no teaching. Immense work pressure and client deliverables.
