It's a Challenging job profile since we have to be prepared at every time for any sudden emergency during work and to maintain reliability for running trains with punctuation in 24 ×7 . In addition to that we have to manage bulk of staff and also to make coordinations with other departments. So.. Personal life not so good if we workas SSE in Railway.. Career growth is not so good because of no time bound promotion and almost nil in comparison with Candidates for the departmental seats vacant out to fill by LDCE. But we may learn so many technical skills in indian railway......Read More

I was in locomotive operation department which keeps on functioning round the clock, 24 X 7 days. Challenges that I was supposed to handle efficiently were safety, security and punctuality of the running trains, particularly passenger-carrying trains.

Teammates are encouraging. However while taking job from you is a very unpalatable situation añd you have every freedom to act according to you. Training Generally no training is given. You have to learn from your peers and from old records. But one thing is felt best is when you take some initiative it is encouraging and welcomed by all. Job security- Job security is very secured and employees are free from such threat. Career growth - There are not so ample chances to advance forward. Hence you need to keep an eye when a chance comes. There are different cadre and formulas for such thing. For General categories the chances are not so good. Salary - Good but not best. Appraisal- Appraisal is unbiased. Travel - During service one can avail free Passed as per his entitlement to any place across India in addition to PTOs. Politics- Some political influences are seen. However this is influenced as per one's will. It's better to have touch with some party and may seek their help for taking advantages in relation to delay in promotion etc. Learning- Maximum Learning is self Learning. However, sometimes training is given on computer and culturing Hindi. Work environment- is good and free from external influenced. One has to frame his own work discipline and follow the existing rules. Innovation- Yes, I have a very good experience in proposing for creating a new store unit by the concurrence of Senior Officers. Teammates- Few people may dislike some work they are not familiar with or not trained properly for or for the reason of unreasonably lengthy. Feedback at lower levels are very poor. Training- No culture of training may be due to limited staffing or loss of sense of responsibility by counted numbers of staff. Job security is a boonfor the lower rank staffs but this boon sometimes misutilized. My work is challenging in two ways. Its strictly routinitzed some works are done daily, weekly, monthly, half yearly and yearly. Thus daily there is a challenge. Some new works with new rules and provisions and adhering strictly to those is a challenge
