My experience here has been deeply disappointing due to the unprofessional leadership and a toxic work environment. The Director of Engineering lacks the technical and product knowledge required for the role, which is evident in his inability to provide meaningful guidance or support to the team. Instead, he resorts to blackmailing employees on KRAs and holds personal grudges against team members. His lack of maturity is apparent, as he often engages in unnecessary gossip and irrelevant meetings, wasting everyone’s time. Collaboration across departments is actively discouraged, and the Director frequently hands over tasks meant for other teams to the product team, creating unnecessary confusion and delays. He micromanages to an extreme degree, even deciding which employees from other departments should be included in email threads. His behavior becomes unprofessional and hostile if he feels left out of any communication, which severely affects morale. Despite multiple discussions with HR and management about these issues, nothing changes. The HR team, especially the Head of HR, seems more focused on protecting the Director of Engineering rather than addressing employees’ concerns. This favoritism has created a toxic atmosphere, morale are disregarded. The company as a whole is not making significant progress in terms of technology or innovation. The leadership team’s inability to address these challenges has left the organization stagnant and unmotivated. In summary, this is not an environment conducive to growth or collaboration. The phrase “empty vessels make the most noise” perfectly describes the Director of Engineering, whose loud and unconstructive approach to leadership is holding the company back.
