Avalara was a good company to work for and so far the same image has been out there in the market. But a lot has changed after the company was sold. Company culture has become brutal and there is no job security at all. There is continuous firing, especially for tech roles. Career progression is really difficult and hikes are not good. Initially, like any other Big 4, they pays you a lot but you might be fired in few months and forget about appraisals. Senior management is clueless where they want to take this company....Read More

Do not ever join this company if you want job security. Look for security, they will be very nice at starting but then without any explanation you will be asked to leave. They will lure you with salary but do not fall into this trap. They don’t know how to manage people and they hiring to fire. Remember this! Hiring firing company. In Sep 2024 they dissolved the entire team asking 2 month old & 2 weeks old & even 2 days old joinees to leave.. Witnessed a scenario where people who joined few months ago, few weeks ago and few days ago were asked to leave with NO compensation. A lady who worked for 10 years as almost a founder member of Avalara India was asked to leave and ID got deactivated over phone in few seconds only.. Hiring and Firing Company. Lot of new and old hires. People who joined few months, few weeks and few days ago were asked to leave abruptly.. Even a lady who was working for 10 years was asked to leave over phone and her ID got disconnected in few seconds over call only..

Work life balance is good. Higher management is also good. Other benefits are good.

Manager politics within team. Biasness is most in the team. The new manager(Himanshu Gupta) is biased with boys. Favouritism is more and support his native people from UP. He is the worst manager I worked with. Always targets boys for the additional work. He always scolds to boys and talk to girls very sweetly.
