Well, this is one company where your job is secured once you enter it. I joined as a Quality Controller and now currently working as Copy Editor (Journals Team). I have been in this company for more than 7 years and it feels like home. The company in charge is a very caring and friendly person who makes you comfortable to work around.
Job security - Excellent
Work satisfaction - Good
Company culture - Good
Work-life balance - Good
Dislikes
The thing which I dislike the most is that this company doesn't update its style sheets at all. Here I am mentioning on journals team and not books. The projects are received from WSPC, Singapore. The Singapore Editors send style updates through emails. The concerned journal in charge of ACES doesn't update it in the style sheets and instead just forwards the style update mail to all journal editors. It is not possible for the journal editors to remember to go through style update mail that was received 1 week before or 1 month before when they do the particular journal. For some journals like IJMPA and JCBC there is not even a style sheet. Only a sample article and a copy edited article (hard copy) with copy editing marks is scanned and converted to PDF format and uploaded in style sheets folder.
With or without knowing this problem, the company incharge keeps on reminding us to improve our style quality. Inspite of pinpointing the problem that the style sheets aren't updated, it just fell on deaf ears. I consider this as totally unprofessional. The pay scale is also very average. The maximum take home you may get is around 20,000 Rs. The pathetic thing is that there are many people who are from Engineering background working as Editor and earning even less....Read More
