Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a sales strategy tailored to the MOD and defense sector to increase market penetration and business volume (Soldier Systems).
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to derive insights for refining sales strategies and product offerings.
  • Own and manage the sales funnel for the MOD vertical, focusing on defence agencies, military contractors, and related government entities.
  • Develop and execute annual sales forecasts and budget plans, ensuring alignment with business growth targets and profitability.
  • Increase brand visibility within defence markets through client meetings, defence exhibitions, tradeshows, and industry seminars.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with MOD clients, government agencies, defence contractors, and military end-users.
  • Analyze client requirements in the defense sector, identify gaps, and propose customized solutions by comparing our products to their needs.
  • Work closely with the technical team to ensure that proposed specifications meet the requirements of MOD clients.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies, products, and defense sector trends, and collaborate with the technical team for potential product enhancements.
  • Identify upcoming defense tenders, lead the bid preparation process, and manage the strategy for tender participation.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration throughout the bid preparation and submission process.
  • Attend pre-bid and bid opening meetings to clarify requirements and document outcomes for internal teams.
  • Track and report on regional sales KPIs, using insights to take corrective actions and drive improved performance.
  • Strengthen relationships with channel partners to generate new leads and convert them into sales opportunities.

  • Collaborate with technical team on regular basis to understand New Product Development/New Product Features
  • Co ordinate with planning team to understand if we can meet delivery period as required by the customer
  • Present monthly/quarterly regional Sales Performance report to the Sales Head during sales review meeting
  • Present Sales Forecast and Business Development Plan to Sales Head

  • Prepare training and development plan for sales team to build sales expertise
  • Attend training sessions to build product knowledge
  • Help in developing content for product documentation, brochures etc.
  • Share insights of market studies, research, and competition analysis with concerned stakeholders
  • Keep yourself updated with latest trends and technologies in the market

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors in Mechanical/Electronics & Communication/Any and/or Masters degree in Marketing /Sales (MBA will be preferred)

Prior experience of working with defence, government departments and agencies
