Job Description

Nature of The Job

  • Prioritizing the required Process mapping work and managing the activity via sprints. Cover all processes end-to-end within functional areas and Financial Operations
  • Lead and design workshops to document current and future state Finance processes and highlight existing risks and controls
  • Identify gaps or weaknesses in the current state and capture any issues that require remediation
  • Proactively identifying improvements for the business that can be deliver through tactical and transformational fixes e.g. Policy, Process, Data and System changes

Job Purpose

  • Leading the elicitation and validation of Finance Business requirements for a new ERP System
  • Lead on the required Data migration, analysis and mapping work required in readiness for a new ERP System e.g. Mapping of existing Chart of Account (CoA) structure to the new best practice CoA structure and creation of the Delegation of Authority (DoA)
  • Work closely with and mentor and development team members
  • Ensure the programme meets its goals and objectives. Working within the Project / Programme Managers to ensure that the process and data activities are scoped, planned and resourced.
  • Carrying out Business Data Analysis role for the Future Finance Programme (FFP), including the mapping of the old Chart of Accounts (CoA) to the new Chart of Account structure.

Business Focus


  • Develop an understanding of the business and how it functions keeping up to date with changes to business strategy, functions and processes.
  • Look to innovate and drive change by regular meetings with different business areas to identify areas where new / updates to process or systems and data can lead to improved business processes
  • Where improvements are identified assist business with raising appropriate IT Demand requests (Change Request, Project request, business case for new software)
  • Promote and sustain a constructive, supportive and friendly working relationship with all customers, external and internal, immediate and senior management and other work colleagues.
  • Ensure effective cross function team work to enable successful project delivery
  • Communicate and obtain feedback from relevant stakeholders following delivery of projects and change requests, analyzing comments and requests, and prioritizing if action is appropriate

Business Process & Change Analysis


  • Gather business requirements by individual meetings and workshops.
  • Document ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes.
  • Produce Business Requirements Specifications to University of Law standards.
  • Produce RFI / RFQ documents to support the tender process where 3rd party solution is required.
  • Support business case production through the capture, analysis and prioritization of benefits
  • Work with Solution Delivery team to propose appropriate solutions.

Desired Profile


Essential

  • Degree level or equivalent in relevant subject

Desirable

  • Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant
  • Business Change qualification, Diploma or equivalent
  • Project Management qualification such as Prince 2

Experience


Essential

  • At least 8-10 years recent experience in a Process & Data Analysis role including the following:
  • Experience working on large-scale finance transformation projects.
  • Experience of finance processes, process mapping, business analysis, create risk and control metrics.
  • Experience of having gone through a whole system tender process. Leading on gathering, analyzing and developing business systems' requirements and needs
  • Excellent communication skills - capable of managing communications and engagement at all levels
  • Ability to take initiative and self-manage, with a 'can do’ attitude, ability to cope with tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Production of clear and detailed business process models and requirement specifications
  • User Acceptance Scripts and Testing
  • Stakeholder management
  • Previous data migration and data mapping experience

Desirable

  • Worked in a professional services environment, particularly Finance.
  • Worked in a Higher Education or Public sector setting
  • Experience with Unit-4 Agresso
  • Financial reporting or Audit background or Shared Services or Business Process Outsourcing experience is desirable.
  • Experience completing mapping of Chart of Accounts
  • Experience supporting the development of the delegation of authority
  • Working closely with end users to develop their use of complex, off-the-shelf software packages
  • Consultancy background
