Job Description

EY GDS Content Services Center of Excellence is a fast-growing team of talented copywriters, editors, content strategists, thought leadership writers, technical writers and editorial managers. People in the team provide support for key global EY publications and campaigns.

The Senior Associate Translation translates materials received from EY stakeholders in their language of specialization, coaches and mentors junior team members, performs quality reviews and works on higher-complexity assignments.

Your key responsibilities

Provide lucid and spot-on translation of reports, papers and various types of materials across diverse domains such as accounting, auditing, taxation and financial management
Ensure that the translated content retains the tone and structure of the original content
Maintain the quality, consistency and alignment of the translated content with EY s purpose and editorial strategy
Apply cultural knowledge to produce meaningful translation of the original content
Convert ideas in the source language to equivalent ideas in the target language
Compile information and terminology to be used in translations
Discuss translation requirements with clients and finalize the project effort and timeline estimates
Proofread, edit and revise translated materials
Organize projects to tight deadlines
Support editorial staff in all activities leading to a publication
Effectively prioritize work, and balance multiple priorities simultaneously to meet client commitments and deadlines
Review the work of other translators, provide constructive feedback and help drive best practices within the team
Ensure that customers receive the highest quality deliverables
Work with minimal supervision and guidance
Maintain confidentiality of all information and data

Skills and attributes for success

Good communication skills and experience working with multi-location teams or customers
Business / marketing / content / creative writing/editing/proofreading or communications background
Professional, confident and enthusiastic team player with a flexible can-do attitude and the ability to work with virtual teams
Excellent written and verbal communications in two languages, one of which is English
Strong eye for detail
Excellent typing speed
Subject knowledge and research skills to pick up specialized vocabulary quickly

To qualify for the role, you must have

Bachelor s or master s degree, preferably in English or the other language
4-5 years of experience in translation
Specific for Chinese-English translation: Qualified in TEM (Test for English Major) Band 8
Ideally, you ll also have
Previous experience working in publishing houses or working on business content
Aptitude and willingness to continually expand your core skillset
Specific for English-Chinese translation: China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters (CATTI) Grade 2 as well as familiarity of economics, accounting, tax or regulation basics

Technologies and tools

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat/PDF-XChange
SDL Trados
Knowledge of translation software and OCR software

A motivated self-starter who can adapt to a constantly changing and growing business environment
Excellent work ethic and the ability to thrive in a time-sensitive environment
Flexible and adaptable to fluctuating workflow levels and timings

The only thing good here is salary.

Dislikes

The management is not at all supportive. The expectation of the managers and assistant manager are unrealistic. They start pin pointing your silly mistakes There expectations is that employee should work for 12 hours a day Should take minimum leave, should inform one month prior before taking leaves lots of micro management Very bad work culture
