Job Title Power BI QA Specialist - Financial Reporting

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Reporting & Analytics Supervisor to join our Reporting & Data Analytics team based in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial reporting and have expert-level experience in developing Power BI dashboards. This role requires a strategic thinker with a knack for problem-solving and the ability to build SQL procedures and Power Apps.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Power BI QA Specialist to join EY GDS ES Finance Reporting and Data Analytics team. The QA Specialist will be responsible for testing and validation of Global Alliance Power BI reports built by the BI Developers, both via manual and automatic testing. The QA Specialist will create a single, robust and trusted reporting testing structure, with the aptitude to build an automated framework against our visualization and data virtualization layers. The role involves thorough testing of BI solutions, data validation, and collaboration with developers and business analysts to uphold the highest standards of data quality.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and objectives, ensuring alignment with business strategies.
- Liaise with development teams to understand the technical aspects of dashboard creation.
- Work closely with stakeholders to grasp the business requirements and ensure that the dashboards meet their needs.
Data Validation and quality Assurance
- Develop SQL queries to extract data from databases for cross-verification against the information presented in dashboards.
- Perform rigorous data validation checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of the reported data.
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and accuracy in all published dashboards and reports.
- Identify and document any discrepancies or inconsistencies in data reporting.
- Proactively detect issues within the dashboards and reports, taking initiative to address them promptly.
- Collaborate with the appropriate teams to resolve issues or implement necessary fixes.
Test Case Development
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases and test scripts for Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure they meet business requirements and quality standards.
- Perform functional testing across each element of the dashboards to ensure all the visuals, filters and parameters in the alliances suite of dashboards are working as intended
- Design and document detailed test case scenarios that align with business requirements.
- Execute test cases methodically and validate the numerical data for accuracy.
Technical Expertise
- Build and maintain a strong command of SQL to facilitate effective data analysis and validation.
- Possess a solid understanding of Power BI to ensure the reliability of data visualizations and reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, information technology, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in QA testing, specifically with Power BI or similar BI tools.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL and understanding of relational database concepts.
- Experience with test management software and QA methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
