EY - Defence Sector Expert - Government & Public Sector (8-20 yrs)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Defense Sector Expert to support and drive strategic initiatives in the promotion of the defense sector for government clients. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in engineering and management, proven leadership experience in the aerospace, defense, or space sectors, and a deep understanding of defense industry dynamics.

This role requires a professional with strong analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills to design and execute strategies for promoting defense sector growth and investment.

Key Responsibilities:

Sector Promotion and Strategy Development:

- Develop and implement strategies to promote the defense, aerospace, and space sectors.

- Identify opportunities for investment, collaboration, and technology transfer within the defense ecosystem.

- Support the development of policies, initiatives, and frameworks to boost sector competitiveness.

Stakeholder Engagement:

- Engage with defense contractors, industry associations, academia, and startups to foster partnerships and alliances.

- Act as a liaison between government agencies and private sector players to facilitate sector growth.

- Represent the consulting firm and government clients at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences.

Policy and Procurement Expertise:

- Provide advisory support on defense procurement procedures, including capital and revenue procurements.

- Assist in drafting guidelines, policies, and SOPs to streamline operational processes.

Project Management:

- Oversee projects from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with client objectives.

- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while mitigating risks and addressing challenges.

Market Research and Analysis:

- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of trends, emerging technologies, and market opportunities in the defense sector.

- Prepare detailed reports, whitepapers, and presentations to support policy recommendations and promotional strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Background:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in any domain.

- MBA with PMP certification preferred.

Experience:

- Minimum 8 years of work experience, preferably as a short-service commissioned officer, in the Aerospace, Defense, or Space sectors.

- Proven experience in defense sector promotion, project management, or policy advisory roles.

Sector Expertise:

- In-depth knowledge of the defense ecosystem, including procurement procedures, manufacturing, and R&D.

- Understanding of government policies, regulations, and incentives related to the defense industry.

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools like Power BI is a plus.

Soft Skills:

- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

- Leadership ability with a strategic mindset and problem-solving aptitude.

- Excellent project management and multitasking capabilities.

Preferred Attributes:

- Experience working with defense PSUs, OEMs, or startups in the defense sector.

- Prior involvement in government advisory projects or consulting engagements.

- Exposure to global defense markets and emerging technologies.
