Assistant Manager- Structure Design

Job Objective:

Design, checking & Management of Structure drawings as per IS standards & primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and strength of the structures including analyzing site survey reports, topographical maps, zoning restrictions and requirements to ensure specifications meet project goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design & Review of Structures

• Calculation of Loads, stress & pressure: Make calculations about pressures, all types of loads, and stresses.
• analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure.
• Structure Model: Create structure models by using Computer-aided design software & Use computer-aided design technology for simulation purposes.
• Safety Guidelines Follow safety guidelines as per rules and norms.
• Material & Specification Design: Design of material as per calculation & advise on the best materials to use when building or adding to existing structures, considering safety, sustainability, usage and cost.
• Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately.
• Detailed knowledge of IS codes and design criteria.
• Coordination with Structure Design Consultant and Peer review consultant to arrive at optimum solution.

Associated Structure Activities

• Examine structures at risk and advise how to improve their structural integrity
• Check of shop drawings, As build drawings of structure and its elements as required.
• Work with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction.
• Prepare reports, designs, and drawings for Misc. structures.
• Participate in initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, constructions costs and risk analysis reports to prepare comprehensive study on all relevant design factors.
• Research existing and new material technology to determine practical applications, strength and durability expectations and cost-benefits information, and prepare material recommendations for current and future projects
• Use AutoCAD and other drafting software programs to create 2D design documents and 3D models for individual components and overall structural plans according to client needs and project requirements for deliverables
• Collaborate with site teams, project managers & other stakeholders.
• Inspection of Structure at site and raise the flag for any issues and discrepancy in structure elements from approved drawings.
• Preparation and finalization of structure tender.
• Detailed knowledge of IS codes and design parameters.

Drawings management

• Checking of drawings received from consultant with respect to drawing no. revision, coordination with architectural details etc.
• Ensure work will be executed as per latest drawings at site.
• Ensure structure GFC to be closed before start of activity at site.
• Ensure superseded drawings should be separate from latest revision of drawings.

Key Interactions:

Internal

• Work closely with relevant project team, Architectural team and PMO team.
• Interact with BH and HOD to elaborate design of structure for cost, material selection etc.
• Interact with Quality /QS/Project Team for technical query raised for GFC drawings.

External

• Interact with consultant in collation of design finalization, cost optimization, tender BOQ standardization, quantity assurance to strengthen collaboration project deliveries with scheduled timeline.

Job Profile:

Education

• Full-time M.Tech / ME in Structure Engineering.

General Experience:

• 12 to 15 years of experience with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.

Technical Experience:

• Knowledge of the overall function involved in structure design works with technical specification.
• Involvement in design coordination, DBR analysis, Tendering (BOQ`s, detailed quantity backup, technical specification, tender drawings), shop drawings, design, and project queries.
• Knowledge of all equipped with technical feasibility and risks associated with projects structure works.
• Knowledge of cost estimation, IS standard, value engineering - crucial aspects of project structure works.
• Knowledge of the government and authoritys enforced laws, standard norms and regulation etc.
