Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing & Compliance:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including FLSA, IRS, and university policies.
- Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, deductions, and benefits in alignment with policies.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with finance teams.
- Stay up to date on tax law changes, labor laws, and payroll compliance requirements.
Payroll Systems & Reporting:
- Maintain and optimize payroll systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, Oracle, or other university payroll platforms).
- Generate payroll reports, audits, and reconciliations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT and HRIS teams to enhance payroll system efficiency and automation.
- Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation, tax filings, and audits.
Employee Support & Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees.
- Educate faculty, staff, and student workers on payroll policies and procedures.
- Work closely with HR, finance, and benefits teams to ensure accurate payroll data integration.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and escalate issues as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a higher education or large organization setting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems (Workday, ADP, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
