Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Relations:
- The candidate is responsible for developing a team of business development professionals that deliver to students, higher number of quality job offers.
- Lead the development and management of employer or corporate relations. This effort includes growth and cultivation of relationships with existing employer contacts as well as growth of relationships with new corporate partners to increase the number and quality of job opportunities for students.
- Pursue increased potential for international career opportunities.
- Closely monitor and review labour markets to identify emergent opportunities and trends that are aligned with student needs.
- Collaborate with various constituencies in the school such as Advancement, student-led clubs, and Research Centers and Institutes to identify corporate partnerships, development opportunities and employment initiatives across diverse sectors.
- Establish policies and standards for company and job selection, student presentation, candidate evaluation, and follow-up and feedback from employers and graduates.
Career Counselling and Coaching:
- The candidate will hire, supervise, evaluate, and provide effective feedback and performance management for a team of career coaches. Establish guidelines, policies and practices for providing high-quality, customized career coaching for all students.
- Oversee the design and direction of a range of career educational workshops and programs for quality and impact.
- Build a strong data analytics function that provides labour market information to advisory services on a real-time basis and to academic constituencies in the school.
Events and Marketing:
- Develop and maintain corporate outreach programs.
- Oversee development and implementation of various events and activities (campus-based, industry-based, career fairs, seminars, presentations, workshops, alumni networking events, etc.), and work with Marketing Communications to develop high quality marketing collateral for both online and offline media.
Alumni Programming:
- The candidate will extend the above career advisory services to alumni of the PGP program.
- Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni surveys, projects (i.e. alumni directory:, correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.)
- Develop alumni career resource tools just as career assessment meetings, career decision making and career transition assistance, guidance and direction on necessary tools for a professional job search including networking, rsum writing, and rsum critiques. Plan and implement events to facilitate alumni interactions with employers and industry professionals.
- Work with Alumni Engagement to create and develop alumni relations initiatives and corporate outreach programs.
Administration:
- Leads strategic planning and manages and oversee administration. Establishes long- and short-term goals and policies, ensures day-to-day operations are in line with those goals and policies, and assesses programs and services with respect to key metrics such as costs, value, and participation and engagement.
- The candidate will consult with academic deans and faculty to ensure that career programs and services address student needs, provide faculty information on opportunities to bridge skills development that takes place in the classroom, direct co-curricular efforts to assist students in demonstrating competences that help meet their career aspirations, and work with diverse offices in the school to enhance skills development in student leadership and employment activities.
- Determines staffing needs, hires, supervises and evaluates staff and provides effective feedback and performance management guidance.
- Manages the Center's budget and other resources; oversees expenditures, resource allocation and effective management.
- Collects and reports employment outcomes and other data related to institutional effectiveness of CAS to constituents inside and outside the university.
