Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Test was conducted by Aspiring Minds(AMCAT). In Aptitude section (30 questions) the level of difficulty was decent and the questions tested both speed and aptitude application.
In Technical section (50 questions) the questions tested basic concepts with focus on Metallurgy, Heat Treatment and Machine Design.
Tips: In my experience question were easy straight forward and theoretical. So time is important. do not stick to one particular question.
Duration: 1 hour
Total Questions: 80

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: It was a very good experience. all the questions was asked to check your knowledge and on spot thinking.
Tips: Do not be nervous even if you don't know a answer. take your time, listen carefully and try to relate to things you know. whatever you write in resume you should be ready to tell the usefulness of that.
do not try to manipulate interviewer.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Very basic and almost nominal.
Tips: If you have any future plans (CAT, MS, etc.), keep them to yourself. Never ever be location or department specific and always
remain flexible.

Interview Questions

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: 30 questions in 30 minutes for aptitude section and 50 questions in 30 minutes for technical section.sectional cutoff was there. questions were easy; especially in technical section no calculation was required. questions were mostly from machine design, heat and mass transfer, metallurgy and few questions from other subjects like SOM, KOM, thermodynamics, industrial(basic). Aptitude section was comprised of quantitative(time and distance, mixtures, etc), verbal reasoning(antonyms, synonyms, etc), logical reasoning(pattern identification, odd one out, etc.).

Tips: Practice from indiabix as many questions were directly from there. mechanical handbook for GATE will also be useful.
Duration: 1 hour
Total Questions: 80

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: first he asked me about my family background and then came directly to my projects. i have not done any internships but i did four projects during my academics, all of them were on automobiles. he asked my role in the projects, what i did, how i did, problems i faced during my projects etc. then he came to my AOI, and asked me some questions which i have mentioned above. all they wanted to know was that whether i know what i have mentioned in the resume(projects, AOI).
Tips: keep good knowledge of your projects and your AOI(area of interest). if you have done co-curricular activities(like participation in SAE events, projects etc.) it will be a plus point.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: in this round they wanted to check whether i am really interested in the job or not. i had told him earlier that i want to work in RnD job profile. so he told me that i would be doing job in maintainance department then why do you want to join our company, here i justified my point(may be that's why i got selected).
Tips: be honest and confident

After that i said to him that sir ,i have one more project. As project is your strong Point where ypu can show your skill upto 100%. So i explain my summer training project and final year project. Then he asked me you have a lot of projects in Automobile sector .How these projects will helpful for reliance ? Before this i was rejected from some interview as i was not prepare for this question.but this time i cracked it .i Explained to him that all my projects are inclined towards reliance industries by giving him proper arguments. This time he was satisfied and then he asked me if you were appointed in maintenance and u have to motivate your subordinates ,how will u motivate them? I answered it perfectly by applying the concept of industrial engineering. Then last question is ,Do u want to ask any question? I visited reliance website and i was prepare for that question so i asked about ongoing project of reliance industries. This was all about 50 minutes.
Tips: Prepare your projects very carefully and mold interview in your side. AOI should be prepared very well. Be confident.

Round: HR Interview

Round: Test
Experience: Written test- both aptitude and the core subjects. In Core subject 50 Questions 30 minutes. In Aptitude 30 Questions in 30 minutes. The level of aptitude would be average but the core paper dealt with a lot of basics. For electrical people, a lot of questions were from transformer and induction machine, synchronous machine, Power system, Power electronics basics, Power plant engineering, and switchgear & protection devices. Thirteen people from EEE had appeared for the test

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: They basically look for two qualities, first you have knowledge of the core subjects and second that you would stick with the company at least for some years.

Skill Tips: Try to stick to the core and basically Transformer and machines, switchgear and protection, do not go towards the other subjects of interests as they are not looking for that profile. Be calm, they might look a bit serious people, but they make you very comfortable during interview.
