  • Q1. *Technical Interview About heat and mass transfer

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: We had to fill basic questions regarding that company which doesn't as such required any prior preparation. The questions were limited to 'Why Reliance ?' and such stuff. We also had to attach a photograph on this form/sheet.
For the test there were cutoff marks for both the sections and you have to complete both successfully. No CG criteria was there in this test selection.
Duration: 1 hour

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They started by the 'introduce yourself' question. Then they came to core questions - questions about different types of heat pumps used in the industry, knowledge about heat engine & carnot cycle. CRE basic question like % of excess oxygen in methane combustion. Questions abot pressure drop in a pipeline, basic factors affecting the pressure drop and such stuff. They also asked questions and grilled about cyclone separator beacuse that was related to my internship. Lastly they gave 4 different sector options and the preference of me in joining them - R&D, New projects, Already existing projects, and one another. I did one research intern, so they asked whether or not I wanted to pursue higher studies.

Tips: Questions on knowledge of industry and knowledge that is applicable. Since he had computative background it was about using aspen,Matlab etc. to solve proplems. Plus, familiarty with chemical industry-pumps, distillation columns, HEX etc and other quick logical questions

Experience: There were two test each for half an hour. One test on technical stuff and one on aptitude.
Duration: 1 hour

Experience: Interview was very easy. There was no HR questions also except what is the situation outside. There were two questions on mass transfer applications like pump, distillation and drying questions.

Round: Test
Experience: The test consists of two sections. First section is Aptitude and it has 30 questions (30 minutes). This section has questions on numerical ability, logical reasoning and verbal ability. Each question carries 2 marks and no negative marks. Second section is technical section and this section has 50 questions and each one carries 1 mark (30 minutes). For mechanical engineering stream, the questions were asked mainly from materials science, strength of materials. Remaining questions were asked from other core subjects. All the technical questions were theoretical questions and no problem solving.
Tips: Briefly touch up all the core mechanical subjects and you will be through the test.
Duration: 1 hour

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: Firstly, a form was given before the interview. In the form, they asked us to fill all our bio data, projects we have done and some basic HR questions. There's only one interviewer. The first question was "Tell me about yourself". He asked based on what we have written in the form. He asked about my goals, role model and also about the company. He mostly checked whether I am interested in the company or not.

Experience: The test was for 1 hour . It consisted of aptitude and technical sections each for 30 mins. Technical was of gate level questions and aptitude was a basic math test with some verbal ability questions.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was a basic HR interview for about 30 minutes. And mostly the selection was based on the test scores so if you have done well in the test you are almost selected for the job

Experience: It contained basic aptitude questions like age, time, speed , distance questions and there was also around 5 to 6 verbal questions were there.
Tips: Speed and accuracy both are important in this test. Try to do aptitude as fast as u can

Experience: Most of the questions were simple and were easily answerable. The only constraining factor was time. You need to be very fast.
Tips: Practice basic math like Simple interest, Compound interest ..etc
