Interview Questionnaire

1 Question

  • Q1. Asked to create a or model and then asked to solve it

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: English basic 7th 8th grade and Quant (normal difficulty level) easier than cat

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: 30 secs to think and 8 minutes of GD. Everybody got a chance to speak. Those whodidn’t speak the panelists pin pointed them and asked them to speak. 30 sec to conclude. Just 5-6 got eliminated in the whole process.
Tips: Basic GD skills were tested
Duration: 8 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: Initially only 1 round of interview was happening but then they started taking two interviews. Both were HR resume based interview. As my highlighted point was Operations Research, more questions were asked from that area. Certain puzzles were asked. Basically it was not a stress interview.

No case studies were asked. Seeing my interest in OR I was asked to create a model and then asked to solve it. I created the vehicle routing model. Some puzzles were asked.
Tips: I knew about the company and when they asked me how I could contribute I answered it well. Apart from that my projects in OR and my answers were helped me get selected.

General Tips: 2nd year students - Concentrate on your CGPA
Pre Final years: Make a story out of your life. Don't mug it but have the bullet points Be genuine, do not make up stuff.
I started preparing from October 2nd week.
Starting earlier definitely helps

Interview Questionnaire

3 Questions

  • Q1. Basic puzzles
  • Q2. Guess the number of vehicles on the Chennai roads between 5 to 6
  • Ans.

It is impossible to accurately guess the number of vehicles on Chennai roads between 5 to 6 without any data.

    • The number of vehicles on the road can vary depending on the day, time, and weather conditions.

    • Factors such as rush hour traffic, accidents, and road closures can also affect the number of vehicles on the road.

    • Without any data or context, it is impossible to make an accurate guess.

  • Q3. Basic questions on inventory model

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The test was for around an hour it consisted of Quant and verbal sections.
Tips: Simple questions just basic math and verbal understanding would suffice.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 60

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: All the students shortlisted from the exam were divided into 3 sets and 3 GDs were conducted. Each GD had 8 students. It lasted for 30 min.
Tips: One thing that will help in a GD especially when you are not sure about the topic like my case is to listen patiently to others so that you get an idea as to what the topic is exactly about. A strict no to cutting on someone when he/she is making a point and shouting in a loud tone. Both these indicate that you are not fit to be in a team and you are slightly dominating types respectively
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: I was asked this because my resume had some decent points about my work and interest in transportation engineering.
Tips: You need to have some decent knowledge on basic figures like the population of Chennai or India etc., to be able to do these guesstimates well. obviously speed in basic calculations will help.

Round: Interview
Experience: Factors affecting inventory modeling
Tips: They were not really looking for any specific electives or courses but having knowledge of Operations Research would help.

Most importantly, you must be in a position to explain everything that you put in your resume perfectly especially your final year project.

General Tips: Good resume, decent quant and verbal skills, and analytical skills, ability to communicate things properly, reasonable knowledge on current affairs and happenings in the world.
year wise plan for juniors.
1. Explore everything but never ignore acads
2. Decide on what you want to do after graduating
3. Start preparing for CAT, GRE, TOFEL.
CGPA matters so never ignore acads.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Though my CGPA wasn’t up to the mark, exemplary performance in the online test helped. But apart from a couple of guys, the rest of the ones who made it to the initial shortlist had a CG > 7.5. Online Test in Takshashila was conducted. GMAT/CAT model based. Quant, Verbal, and the likes. Ensure that you get the highest possible score. The students selected had more or less a full score in this test.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: GD with a group of around 10 was conducted. General Knowledge and Current Affairs are the requisite skills. The topic of my GD was “Aam Aadmi Party” Ensure that you contribute valuable points in the GD. In a group of 10 people, there isn’t much time to speak for more than a couple of minutes overall. But the points you make must be relevant and attention grabbing. Every person is required to conclude the GD. So, there’s a redeeming chance as well.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: There are three different cases based on the designation you’ve applied to: Analyst, Operations, Technology. The case may sound really weird in the beginning, esp. for Operations. They are mainly based on Performance Appraisals and Remuneration Design (for Operations). But, there’s an inherent simple trick based on math skills and data interpretation, and presence of mind.
Tips: You are given around 40 minutes to solve the case and write down the reasonings and method of solving. Make the best use of them. After this, you will have around 30 minutes to make the interviewer understand the method and approach of solving the case. Basic Quant Skills and Data Interpretation skills should sail you through. Don’t freak out. Just don’t. Everything else is easy. PS: Legible handwriting helps.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Basic resume drilling. Might Include a guesstimate question. The guesstimate may sometimes be based on the resume itself (like, in my case). For the guesstimate, math skills will help. And, a good flow chart approach to the problem.
Tips: Don’t falter on the resume drilling. Stand on your answers and don’t backtrack. About the guesstimate, use logical assumptions with a sound base. And, a neat and tidy solving method will appeal to the HR interviewer (and to the Principal later) Lastly, Use a proper flowchart/mindtree.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: HR interview again, but with the Principal of the company (a big shot guy) along with a HR assessment guy in a corner. It’s mainly done to test how you interact with people of high stature. There might be a basic math question, which is more of a Stress Interview than a check for your quant skills.
Tips: The good news is that, if you make it to this round, you’re “almost” selected. All you need is presence of mind to crack this. To summarize, Don’t loss your cool. Don’t freak out. Appear confident. Basically, you are being screwed with. Keep this in your mind.

Skill Tips: Programming languages not required. The initial online test will be based on the lines of CAT/GMAT. HR interview and the Principal interview will have a guesstimate and a quant problem respectively. Basic math skills and presence of mind are required. Principal interview is a Stress Interview.

Interview Questionnaire

1 Question

  • Q1. Practical, real life execution question

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Test was a little long according to the time allotted, but that's part of the challenge.
Tips: Revise basic mathematical concepts, like geometry and puzzles. Work on vocabulary, which was slightly below GRE level.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The moderator actively participated in the discussion, starting with outlining the broad topics of discussion, pointed out by the candidates themselves. He then proceeded with 2-3 minutes discussion on each of the 8 topics.
Tips: Stay in touch with the developments of the e-commerce industry and the business model of the company.
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: Standard HR questions and guesstimates are asked. Assessment of the candidate is done and the feedback is forwarded. Unlike a stress interview, the atmosphere was very relaxed, with the conversation often venturing into informal areas.
Tips: Try to put forth your best front, and focus on the best points in your CV.

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: One question was asked, which involved making estimates of the practical, day to day functioning of the company, on topics ranging from finances, work force, strategy etc.
Tips: Knowledge of logistics and working off start ups will help.

Skills: Practicality, Managerial Skills, Work Experience
College Name: IIT Guwahati
Funny Moments: My mobile rang during the first interview, though I was sure it was off. But the interviewer was nice enough to let it slide, and have me a good feedback.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: Each and every one was given sufficient time to express their opinions but since there are more than 100 guys you are competing with, do try to make an impression somewhere on the mind of the recruiter.
Tips: Nothing specifically, similar to the cliche GDs that all the other firms take but the only point to be kept in mind in case of Flipkart is, from the list of 120 odd people it is gonna come down to 50. So, try to keep that in mind.
Duration: 15-20 minutes

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: It was pretty chilled out, since they will try to help you all along. Difficulty level was okayish, nothing to be afraid of. Slight CV grilling and basic HR questions too were covered in this round. No monsters there.
Tips: Make use of the paper they give you. try to be as graphically illustrative as possible. Think out loud. Make them move along with you, hence if you get stuck up they will be able to help you instantly, saving you some time. Also, this will keep them involved and interested in you.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: I took a moment to jot down some points, no one in the the panel seemed to complain(I guess :P). I suggest 5-6 possible strategies and elaborated specifically. Not much counter questioning( Maybe they liked the answer or maybe the question was a meager formality :P)
Tips: Again, nothing to be afraid of. Not the consultancy type cases where framework building and segmentation is necessary. Here they will try to judge your business acumen rather than your 'Case In Point' MuggPower.

Skill Tips: "Keep yourself updated. If you are reading ET regularly and have a fair idea about the case analysis strategies, it will be walk through the cake."
Skills: Communication Skills, Business Sense
