Interview Preparation Tips

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I looked up for an HR internship and came across one from Colliers International. Right after sending my CV , I was asked to fill a form which had various questions ranging from technical to personal. They also asked us to list the advantages and disadvantages of doing this internship and the same was questioned during the interview round. The interview round was more like follow up questions on the form. I had mentioned about my post as the chief editor of school magazine in the form and they asked me to elaborate on that. The interviewer asked this one very peculiar question which was list reasons to NOT TAKE UP this internship. While most of the interview was related to the form, they also gauged my speaking skills and aptitude in making sensible conversations by asking me to speak for a minute about any random topic that interests or intrigues me.
Tips: First and foremost- JUST DO NOT LIE IN THE FORM. Write only what you know and be absolutely prepared to answer any follow up questions on the form. Make sure you answer to the point and there is complete clarity in your answers. Look at the interviewer in the eye and be confident about yourself. Also your demeanor, the way you carry yourself and your attitude matter a lot for an HR internship. Do not assume any kind of superiority over the interviewer. Never show any kind of desperation by overdoing things. Be honest. If you don't know something then instead of wasting their time just say you don't know it and you are here to learn. Lastly be yourself and have faith in yourself.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: To answer this question, I started with my introduction. I spoke about my educational background and current educational experience, as well as my working experience during internships. There were few more specific questions regarding my internship. Then I talked about my family. Finally, they asked whether I had any questions in mind and I said "Yes Sir, I do have a question. I want to know that if I get selected, what would be my responsibilities, position and my scope for growth within the organization?" All my questions were answered patiently. And the interview closed on a formal note.
Tips: Specifically, it is important to know that you are the focus of any interview and try to maintain that focus all through the interview. They should 'feel' the confidence within you and find you worth for the job.
