Tata is a name which stands for ethics and attracts like minded people. TCE acts as a consultant for various projects, so the job involves a lot of coordination with clients. With TCE there is opportunity to work on a lot of different Civil projects, I have myself worked on a Power plant, a residential and many other projects. I have also seen value for people who have worked with TCE in the industry. First of all you will not feel it as a TATA sons company if you are in TCE kolkata. It's a complete mess. Office politics at its peak. Lobby and favouritism are everywhere. I was in kolkata electrical team in metal and mining . It was my worst descision. Managers are very canny and revenge driven. Other than productivity and inclusiveness they will focus on how you work, what dress you wore and various unnecessary stuffs. Its a complete autocratic management which is utterly toxic in kolkata TCE office. It's a complete oiling buttering culture there. Mr. J** in the electrical team leads it. With no empathy towards junior, you will get judged everytime and get screwed everytime if u are not in his good book. Admin team even worse. They don't fill tissues in the washroom in the name of cost cutting. HR arrogance at its best. Neither HR personnel nor HR policies are not at all employee friendly. Office is like a jail in kolkata. You can't talk freely act freely. I became a victim of office politics recently and due to which I have to resign... Some senior level employees that have no skills but only have experience of sitting in the same company for more than a decade play these kind of politics to save their position. The top management doesn't value a resource and uses unprofessional language in the office floor. If you have independent working mindset probably you will not sustain. Travel policies are very poor. You will end up spending more money in pocket. Be ready to be snatched from one project and allocated to other projects in the next day. Don't join this company if you have past experience in working with MNC and you desire for MNC level working culture. Working culture and company policy is a typical nd orthodox. Don't join if you desire for a good professional goal. Join if kolkata is only your prime desired location other than any other priorities in life.
