Notice period, early join

My current company notice period is two months 23-Dec-2024 to 20-feb-2024. But my new employer asking for early join ie 3rd of feb! I requested for early relieve to My current employer. Verbally they agreed to relieve two weeks early but now they not ready to relieve early. They want me to complete two months notice period. My new employer asking to join early! What can I do? You get a lot of time for preparation for government jobs and self study.

Dislikes

They were not able to pay salary to the employees for 7 months during lockdown even though the employees had worked online. Also since last year November they are paying only 60 percent of salary. Financially the institution is not stable and they haven't cleared the pending salary till now.
