The company gives opportunity to widen your horizons and learn things outside your core domain. The management is open to new ideas and approachable.

Dislikes

While the HR potrays to be employee friendly, most of the policies are unfriendly. For eg: Sick Leave cannot be for one day. It has to be minimum 2 days hence we end up applying casual leave. It is an accepted norm that you should stretch beyond the usual working hours and the pressure is too high. There is no compensatory off or compensation for all the extra work hours or work on holidays too. Alternate Saturdays are off but we end up working on all Saturdays. At present I have been working in 3 different depts. under 3 reporting managers - Samunnati Foundation, Retail & Overall Business. I enjoy wearing all the hats and it is good learning experience but sometimes it becomes difficult to manage the expectation

While a lot was promised initially, there was a lot of ambiguity on the role. Only positive experience was understand the NGO/FPO Landscape.

Dislikes

1. There is a lack of clarity on the role. 2. Pivoting every few months without understanding the market. 3. Some of the manager lack professionalism. HRs promise to look into harassment, but nothing good comes out of it. My last few months at Samunnati were the most traumatic work experience of my life. 4. The only people who are willing to take loans at the high rates that Samunnati offers, are the most riskiest clients. When defaults used to take place(inevitably, collection agents were sent to collect dues, who at times behaved in a very unprofessional manner. The AMLA framework is more like SHAM-LA. 5. The senior manager somehow think that bullying juniors is the best way to get the best out of them. A lot of my peers have suffered working here<mark style="background-color: #fff5e4;">. I hope the HR managers look into training the senior managers to treat the juniors with dignity and respect</mark>. My advice to the HR/Management 1. Make better products. If the product is bad, the sales guys are not responsible for it. Sooner or later people are going to see through the facade. 2. Do not manufacture good reviews. A majority of the reviews here are posted on the same days. Looks like some instructions have been sent to give 5 star reviews. You can manufacture all the good reviews you want, but if your product is not strong and if your managers do not treat people with dignity and respect then the future is bleak. If you are fair with your employees you will get good reviews and you would not have to force them to publish their reviews :-) I would advise everyone looking to work here to be wary. Excellent top management, most of them are ex-bankers / industry veterans with rich experience, most of them are very approachable. Wonderful people. Vibrant atmosphere.

Dislikes

Appraisal process could be improved to make people of similar skills / knowledge levels / experience being paid at a comparable salary range. This will help motivate employees who were earning lesser pay for various reasons (excluding performance, skill, attitude related issues etc.,) and improves talent retention. Activities which are not relevant for core function, soft skills development, personal development etc., could be reduced which could help improve the work life balance...Read More

I'm working in this company since last 2.8 years in Bhubaneswar . Its the best company I have worked so far. The company is both customer an employee centric. Senior management are visionary and are knowledgable and gave us confidence during lockdown when Job insecurity feeling was creeping and stood on their commitment that there will be no Job cut and infact we got bonus and increments and they also ensure overall development of employee through various mental and physical wellness program which immensely benefitted thanks to Anil & Guru Sir. Job security is terrible, employees don’t know when management will remove them from employment. Work culture is fine, company policies will change based job role and depending upon relationships between management and employees.

Dislikes

For me there was no salary increment last three years. Career growth is very slow. One thing I really appreciate them that was the workbench. It really well developed, it’s minimise the loop holes of all transactions of purchase and sales .

The job quite interesting. I struggled a bit in the beginning as there was no Formal training session. The management assigned the tasks which is not related to particular employe. That was irritating thing I faced in this organisation.

Head of Human Resources is arrogant and does not treat employees well Frequent transfers and shifts from one department to another Employees close to the CEO get promotions, irrespective of their worth Ineffecient operations - Many times operations people will not take your calls as their madam has instructed them not to pick up your calls and be rude to the employees who call them to check about payments made to the clients. Actually, rest of the teams are not aligned to business team. The business team should beg the operations team to make payments regularly, while customers keep shouting for receiving payments. At times we feel that we are working with a government entity. One of the business heads is so rude to employees. He haarly speaks to any of his team members to motivate them. He can only shout at them and point out mistakes. Not at all a leader. Credit team is pathetic<mark style="background-color: #fff5e4;">. They assign credit managers after a week to 10 days of submitting a proposal</mark>. They get to work from home (an alterante to leave) and do nothing. Credit head is a very kind person.
