Got Rejected In an Interview, Just Because I Didn’t Answer a Personal Question

So, I got invited for this interview, and they told me to be there at 9 AM. Of course, I get there early, like 8:30, because I don't want to be late. But then I end up waiting for 1.5 hours. Seriously, they didn't even acknowledge me until 10. Then this HR lady calls me in, and she's totally unprofessional. She's like, on her phone, making personal calls while I'm sitting right there. And then she starts asking me these really weird questions, like what my nickname is, and what my dad does for a living. It got really uncomfortable when she started pressing for details about where my dad works. I mean, what does that have to do with anything? So I politely told her I didn't want to answer, and she actually said, "Then we can't continue this interview." I was honestly shocked. But instead of arguing, I just stood up and said, “Alright then.” And walked out. I left feeling pissed. Not only did they waste an hour of my time, but the HR rep was also rude and unprofessional..

The colleagues I was working with(including the superiors), turns out to be the reason for me to work there for a year. They all were helpful and were ready to give all in their power.

This is a startup and I was not being treated well. Some times I have to work for 2 days continuously without going home and sometimes show up even on my weekoffs. It has a terrible work life balance if you are fresher or an entry level professional. I use to get my salary in cash and hence they did not gave me salary slip due to which i could not have the deserving salary. Moreover, when I asked for my experience letter, I was asked that what have you done for the company and why should we provide it to you....Read More
