Salary Negotiation Suggestions

Need suggestions on a few fronts as this is my first big switch. 1. I've a current offer in hand which is offering me 40% hike. I want a bit higher percentage. My current company hasn't started negotiations yet but I'm positive that they'd do it. Putting this aside, can I tell my new employer that my company has matched the new offer, so I want a better offer from them? If yes, how to go about it professionally? 2. I might crack another offer from another org within a week (which should be better than the one I have). Meanwhile, I'll have to accept my current offer letter within 2-3 days. If let's say, I crack the second offer, how can I turn down the first organisation? Would really appreciate positive responses, guys

Mention that you've received another offer that's slightly higher, and ask if there's any flexibility on their end. Keep it professional and focus on what you bring to the table.

If you get a better offer, just be honest with the first company. Thank them and let them know you've decided to go in a different direction. No need for drama, just clear and polite communication.

Negotiation is fair game. Politely let the second company know about the other offer and see if they can improve theirs. If you go with the better offer, respectfully decline the first one. Simple as that.

What’s your strategy for asking the second company for a higher offer? Do you think it would be worth mentioning the other offer in a respectful way?

If the first company can’t offer more, would you be comfortable moving forward with the second offer? What factors are most important to you when making this decision?
