Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Publication to lead our publication division in an EdTech company. This role is pivotal in overseeing end-to-end operations, including book printing, e commerce order management, warehouse, and inventory management. The successful candidate will drive publication sales and be responsible for managing and optimizing the P&L. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of publication processes and experience in e-commerce and distribution channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Book Production & Printing:
- Oversee all aspects of book printing, from pre-production to final delivery, ensuring high quality and adherence to timelines.
- Collaborate with design, editorial, and production teams to ensure consistent product quality.
E-Commerce Order Management:
- Manage and optimize order processes across e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, UtkarshApp, and others.
- Develop strategies for listing, pricing, and inventory optimization to drive maximum visibility and revenue across platforms.
Dealer Network & Distribution:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a network of dealers, ensuring seamless distribution and availability of publications across various regions.
- Implement strategies to expand the dealer network, reach new markets, and optimize distribution costs.
Warehouse & Inventory Management:
- Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring efficient space utilization, stock management, and timely dispatch of orders.
- Implement inventory control practices to minimize wastage, stockouts, and excess holding costs.
Sales & Revenue Generation:
- Drive publication sales growth through strategic planning, targeting both direct and dealer channels.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to develop competitive pricing and promotional strategies.
P&L Management:
- Take ownership of the publication division's P&L, working to maximize revenue and profitability.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), optimize resource allocation, and continuously improve operational efficiency.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Technology, to support publication initiatives and align on broader company goals.
- Ensure seamless inter-departmental communication and alignment on timelines, resource allocation, and budget considerations.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Prepare detailed reports and analyses of publication performance, sales trends, and inventory status.
- Present actionable insights to senior management, making recommendations for process improvements and growth strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Business, Publishing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of total job experience, with 5+ years in publication management and leadership roles, preferably in the EdTech industry.
- Strong understanding of printing processes, e-commerce platforms, dealer networks, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated experience managing P&L, driving sales growth, and improving operational efficiencies.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
- Proficiency in using ERP and inventory management systems.
- Strong leadership skills, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
