About the Organization:
- We are currently working with one of the world's leading steel company who is setting up of an institution where they are bringing together the best of academic and industry partners to nurture students for real-world application of Industry 4.0 technologies.
- This would be a valuable, innovative, new age institution (registration of a University underway) that aims to bridge the gap between world of education and the world of work.
- The fundamental unit on which the institute's system would be built on, is competency, a currency both worlds (the world of education and the world of work) can understand.
- Hence it will be designed grounds up based on this concept of a competency-based system unlike the time-based system, we are familiar with.
Job Description :
- The client seeks a Vertical Head who will be responsible for the establishment and growth of strategic partnerships for the institute in India both academic and non- academic.
- The Head will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporates, high-net worth individuals and foundations; identifying thought leaders, industry and academic institutions of repute with whom the Institute can collaborate, raise funds and receive grants for their research and academic programs.
- The person would be responsible for identifying and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders to exploit emerging opportunities with new initiatives and programs.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategy Execution and Planning:
- Mainly execute the overall partnership and fundraising strategy for the Institute.
- Manage a portfolio of major and principal-level donors and prospective donors in India and solicit philanthropic support from corporates, private individuals and foundations.
- Ideate with the Director of Corporate Partnerships & Marketing and put into action an expansion plan to further strengthen industry linkages through relevant academic programs, research, and project consultancy opportunities, thought leadership and endowments, student placements and internships.
- Constantly expand the Industry and Institutional partners' base for Industry Practice, Research projects, internships and final placement of graduates.
- Lead and implement a success-based strategy to partner with a range of stakeholders.
Corporate Relations:
- Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of the Institutes offerings and maintain strong relationships with corporate community.
- Identify private and industry key players for co-creation of academic programs and curriculum development, nurture them and grow the on-going relationships.
- Negotiate better positioning of graduates in the industry.
Fundraising:
- Responsible for building financial sustainability for the Institute.
- Work closely with faculty in organizing grants and corpus for the Institute.
- Generate funding for research projects from different sources.
- Build and maintain relationships with various academic institutions and Universities for academic collaborations and research collaborations.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing donors and constantly engage them as important stakeholders in the Institute's growth.
- Map and research the philanthropic and corporate grant giving ecosystem on an ongoing basis to add to the existing donor base.
Miscellaneous:
- Develop a healthy funnel of corporate opportunities for ILPs, IP and final placement
- The role involves a high-pressure, high-transaction activity with several stages in the process and stakeholders.
- As such the activity is prone to generating several escalations which will be the responsibility of the role-holder to resolve.
- Grow and manage a high-performing team to execute the new organization's partnership strategy.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience and Competencies:
Educational Qualification:
- A post graduate degree in any relevant domain with over 15 years of relevant work experience in sales or partnership development for an institute or organization.
Must Haves:
- Thorough understanding of the donor market in India, including the behaviors and a wide network of professional contacts and an ability to develop new networks..
- Well-honed skills in sales and fundraising or partnership building along with developing strategies for the same.
- Ability to build strategic relationships with a variety of stakeholders from CXOs to Departmental Heads and Functional Leads, including but not limited to the private sector, individual philanthropists, Foundations and educational institutes.
- A high level of comfort with direct donor interaction.
- Knowledge of and ability to use fundraising databases such as Salesforce
- Self-motivated, extremely well-organized, collegial, and capable of functioning with grace under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
