Assistant Manager SAP and IT Infrastructure

Position Overview: The IT Infrastructure and SAP Support Specialist will be responsible for managing the SAP environment on-premises and on AWS/Azure Cloud. This role requires expertise in data centre management, cloud infrastructure and IT security protocols. The specialist will also support desktop and laptop systems, manage network configurations and oversee secure connectivity, including IPSEC VPN and firewall configurations, to ensure a robust IT infrastructure that supports business operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

1. SAP Support (On-Premises and Cloud)

• Provide daily support for on-premises SAP systems and cloud-hosted instances on AWS/Azure.
• Manage SAP performance tuning, ensuring optimal system functionality.
• Coordinate with SAP Basis teams for troubleshooting and applying patches, updates, and system enhancements.
• Perform backups, restore tests and disaster recovery plans to maintain SAP data integrity.
• Develop strategies for SAP HANA migration, upgrades and new implementations on cloud platforms.

2. Data Centre (DC) Management

• Oversee the on-premises data centre, ensuring stable power, cooling and physical security measures.
• Manage server racks, UPS systems and ensure high availability of critical systems.
• Schedule and perform regular maintenance, updates and health checks on DC equipment.
• Maintain documentation of the data centre layout, network architecture and system configurations.

3. AWS/Azure Cloud Management

• Set up and manage SAP environments on AWS/Azure, focusing on cost efficiency, scalability and security.
• Monitor cloud performance, optimize resource utilization and implement auto-scaling as needed.
• Configure VPCs, subnets and security groups on cloud platforms to maintain secure connections.
• Implement backup and recovery procedures for cloud-based applications and data storage.

4. Desktop and Laptop Support

• Ensure software updates, security patches and antivirus software are regularly installed on all endpoints.
• Configure user profiles, manage permissions and provide troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
• Document support requests and resolutions to improve efficiency and track recurring issues.

5. Networking and IPSEC VPN Management

• Configure, monitor, and maintain the organizations network infrastructure, including switches, routers and wireless access points.
• Set up and manage IPSEC VPN tunnels for secure remote connectivity and inter-office connections.
• Conduct regular testing and troubleshooting to maintain high network performance and stability.
• Work closely with the network security team to ensure VPN policies and configurations meet security standards.

6. Firewall and IT Security Management

• Configure and manage firewall settings to ensure network and data security.
• Monitor firewall logs, detect and respond to potential security threats and adjust rules as needed.
• Implement IT security protocols, such as intrusion detection, network segmentation and access control.
• Regularly audit and update security policies to protect against emerging threats.
• Coordinate with compliance teams to ensure all security measures align with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree, Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support with strong knowledge of SAP, cloud management (AWS/Azure), and data centre operations.
• Proficiency in SAP Basis, cloud services (AWS/Azure), and networking technologies.
• Hands-on experience with firewall management, VPN setup (especially IPSEC) and IT security best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience in system performance tuning.
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, CompTIA Network+, CCNA or CISSP are advantageous.
