Position Overview: The Procurement Manager in the textile industry is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and finished goods required for textile production. This role ensures that the procurement process is cost-effective, timely, and aligned with the production needs and quality standards. The Procurement Manager will manage supplier relationships, track inventory levels, and work closely with production and other departments to support smooth operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Management:

    • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of raw materials, fabrics, dyes, chemicals, machinery, and other goods required for production.
    • Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to achieve favorable purchasing conditions.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term, reliable sourcing.

Procurement Strategy & Planning:

    • Develop and implement procurement strategies in line with company goals and production schedules.
    • Work closely with the production team to forecast material requirements based on demand, seasonality, and inventory levels.
    • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to make informed purchasing decisions.

Cost Control & Budget Management:

    • Establish and manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with financial objectives.
    • Track spending and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
    • Ensure that procurement activities contribute to maintaining competitive pricing for finished textile products.

Inventory Management:

    • Oversee inventory levels to ensure the continuous availability of raw materials and components needed for production.
    • Monitor stock rotation and ensure proper storage practices to prevent material waste or deterioration.
    • Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to manage supply chain logistics and reduce material shortages or overstocking.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

    • Work with the quality control team to ensure that procured materials meet required quality standards and specifications.
    • Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews to ensure adherence to contract terms and product quality.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals in the procurement of materials.

Logistics & Delivery Coordination:

    • Coordinate the timely delivery of materials and components to production facilities.
    • Work with logistics teams to resolve any issues related to shipping, transportation, or customs that may affect the supply chain.
    • Ensure that delivery timelines are met and materials are available as needed to prevent production delays.

Contract Management:

    • Draft and review supplier contracts to ensure all terms and conditions are favorable and compliant with legal standards.
    • Manage renewals, renegotiations, and contract terminations to ensure cost-effectiveness and long-term supplier engagement.

Market Research & Supplier Development:

    • Conduct market research to identify new sources of supply, alternative materials, and innovative products that can improve production efficiency.
    • Develop and maintain a network of reliable, cost-effective suppliers who align with the company's sustainability goals and operational requirements.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with the production, sales, and finance teams to ensure procurement meets production schedules and product demands.
    • Assist the sales team in sourcing materials for customized or special orders when needed.

Reporting & Documentation:

    • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
    • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all procurement transactions, supplier contracts, and inventory movements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in the textile industry or a related manufacturing field.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Strong understanding of textile raw materials, fabrics, and production processes.
  • Knowledge of inventory management, logistics, and supply chain best practices.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in textile procurement (e.g., sourcing eco-friendly materials).
  • Knowledge of global textile sourcing markets and international trade regulations.
  • Multilingual abilities for international procurement.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, with occasional travel to supplier locations, trade shows, or production facilities.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak seasons or to meet production deadlines.
