This includes creating detailed production schedules, forecasting material and labor requirements, managing capacity, and aligning production schedules with customer demands. The role requires close collaboration with various departments including procurement, production, and logistics to ensure optimal resource utilization and minimize production delays.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Scheduling & Planning:

    • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules that align with customer orders, inventory levels, and sales forecasts.
    • Coordinate the production process across multiple departments (e.g., weaving, dyeing, finishing, printing) to ensure timely and efficient product delivery.
    • Monitor the progress of production to ensure that timelines, quantities, and quality standards are met.
    • Adjust production schedules as needed based on machine availability, material supply, and other operational factors.

Capacity Management:

    • Analyze production capacity and adjust plans to ensure resources (e.g., machines, labor, and materials) are used efficiently.
    • Work with the operations and production teams to balance workloads and optimize production efficiency across different shifts.
    • Identify potential capacity constraints and propose solutions such as overtime, additional shifts, or outsourcing to meet customer demand.

Inventory Management & Control:

    • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production schedules while minimizing overstock and stockouts.
    • Work with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment of raw materials and components to prevent production delays.
    • Track finished goods inventory and coordinate with the sales and distribution teams to ensure that products are shipped to customers as required.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

    • Collaborate with procurement to ensure that required raw materials and supplies are available in the right quantities and at the right time.
    • Communicate with the production team to ensure that any changes in production schedules are well understood and executed.
    • Work with the logistics team to ensure the efficient distribution of finished goods to customers or warehouses.
    • Liaise with the quality control department to ensure that products meet the required standards before shipment.

Process Optimization:

    • Continuously review and improve the production planning process to reduce lead times, minimize waste, and enhance overall efficiency.
    • Implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of production plans and identify areas for improvement.
    • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement techniques to streamline production planning and reduce costs.

Production & Delivery Tracking:

    • Monitor and track the status of production orders to ensure they are completed on time and within specifications.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on production status, any potential delays, and corrective actions being taken.
    • Work with customer service to provide accurate delivery timelines and resolve any issues related to production delays.

Reporting & Documentation:

    • Prepare production planning reports, including forecast accuracy, production performance, and material usage.
    • Document and maintain records related to production planning, inventory levels, and resource allocation.
    • Generate reports on key metrics, such as order fulfillment, on-time delivery, and production efficiency.

Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks to production schedules, such as supply chain disruptions, machine breakdowns, or labor shortages.
    • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions and ensure the continuity of production.
    • Monitor external factors such as material shortages or fluctuations in demand that may impact production planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in production planning or operations management, ideally in the textile industry or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of textile production processes and supply chain dynamics.
  • Experience in creating production schedules, managing inventory, and coordinating across departments.
  • Proficiency in planning software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with demand forecasting and capacity planning techniques.
  • Experience with textile production software or ERP systems specific to the textile industry.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices in textile production.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, with occasional overtime required to meet production deadlines.
  • Potential travel to production facilities or supplier locations as needed.
  • Work may be performed in a factory or office setting, with occasional time spent on the shop floor.
