Job Description
- Good understanding on the architecture of Cognos Analytics Model and the various components present in the model
- Good understanding on framework model design (can have star or snowflake schema with complex transformations within different FM Layers).
- Develop and perform tests on various enterprises and provide dashboard solutions with help of Cognos software and assist all end users.
- Have extensive experience in translating business requirements, developing reporting analysis and creating data warehousing solutions.
- Create reports using Cognos Report Studio. Designing the model and have good understanding on the different visual representations. Calculations could include complex vendor specific DB functions.
- Good exposure on Analysis, Metric and Event Studio.
- Provide support to all Cognos issues and maintain knowledge on all new techniques and prepare reports for all warehouse functions.
- Added experience on Cognos Dynamic Cube.
- Good experience on visualisation tools like Power BI and Tableau.
- Good understanding on SQL and hands on experience on ETL Tools is an added advantage.
- Lead and mentor a team throughout design, development and delivery phases and keep the team intact on high pressure situations.
- Work as a project lead to contribute in various technical streams of Cognos and Data analytics
- Analyse and solve day-to-day challenges with data and analytics/reporting systems including research data and systems issues, resolve and/or prioritize issue resolution, proactively identify data quality problems and support solution identification and review system performance; identify and recommend improvements.
- Solve problems using Cognos, data science, data analysis and visualization related skills
- Hands-on involvement in extracting, collating, performing data integrity checks, manipulating and analysing data
- Hands on involvement in suggesting and building an appropriate report to the P&C Insurance industry vertical
- Documenting and presenting work to the client. Proactively recommending and influencing changes in business decision-making.
- Collaborate with technology team and support the development of analytical models with the effective use of data and analytic techniques and validate the model results and articulate the insights to the business team
- Interface and communicate with the onsite teams directly to understand the requirement and determine the optimum solutions
- Create technical solutions as per business needs by translating their requirements and finding innovative solution options
- Provide product and design level functional and technical expertise along with best practices
- Get involved in business development activities like creating proof of concepts (POCs), point of views (POVs), assist in proposal writing and service offering development, and capable of developing creative power point content for presentations
- Participate in organization-level initiatives and operational activities
- Ensure continual knowledge management and contribute to internal L&D teams
- Building a quality work culture and Foster teamwork and lead by example
- Should able to collaborate with teams to integrate systems
- Manage the performance management for the direct reporters, as per the organization policies
- Training and mentoring of project resources
- Participating in the organization-wide people initiatives
- Work with data warehouse team to enhance data mart models that support the Cognos Framework models
Skills and attributes for success
- Use an issue-based approach to deliver growth, market and portfolio strategy engagements for corporates
- Strong communication, presentation and team building skills and experience in producing high quality reports, papers, and presentations
- Experience in executing and managing research and analysis of companies and markets, preferably from a commercial due diligence standpoint
- Exposure to BI and visualisation tools in the market
To qualify for the role, you must have
- BE/BTech/MCA/MBA with 3- 7 years of industry experience with Cognos, machine learning, visualization, data science and related offerings
- Experience in building reports from Guidewire Data Hub & Info centre is very important.
- At least one year of experience in Insurance domain.
- Experience in handling performance issues and good analytical skills to pick up data modelling.
- Expertise in building FM Models that promote the use of self- service reporting
- Create reports in a fast-paced environment using IBM BI Tools, SQL Server or Oracle databases and have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within operational and financial reporting.
- Experience in manage, maintain and modify Business Intelligence System/tools for departmental and company-wide data distribution.
- Experience in document, develop, implement, maintain, and deliver training on reporting solutions to meet the business needs.
- Responsible for analysing customer, data stream, and transactional data to deliver visual dashboards for dashboard requirements.
- Collaborate with onsite counterpart/Business analyst to gather report requirements and ensure proper testing/validation.
- Gain consensus on project and requirement priorities.
- Able to present project status and milestones to management and business stakeholders.
- Must possess knowledge of project management methodologies both traditional and Agile/Scrum.
- Creating, enhancing and maintaining new and existing Framework Manager models to support business requirements and utilize the data sources available and satisfy the requests of the business stakeholders
- Ability to handle Cognos administration tasks like creating data source connections, publishing packages, scheduling reports and deployment of packages and reports
Ideally, you ll also have
- Experience in Guidewire DataHub and InfoCenter and worked on Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter or BillingCenter as Source
- Strong domain expertise in any industry vertical preferably P&C Insurance
- Strong hold in project delivery and team management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A Team of people with commercial acumen, technical experience and enthusiasm to learn new things in this fast-moving environment
