My client is a leading Global Asset Management firm looking to hire a Legal Lead India who will be the single point of contact for all legal matters within the organization. This individual will ensure that contracts and dealings align with the Group's framework and regulatory compliance. The role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate, execute contracts and safeguard the organization from potential litigation. Additionally, the role provides thought leadership and explores opportunities to support group functions on legal matters.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
- Act as the primary legal advisor and collaborate with divisional managers, legal advisors and counterparties to execute legal contracts.
- Draft, review and finalize contracts ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Negotiate contractual terms within the defined risk framework and organizational policies.
- Oversee all litigation matters and investigations and escalating concerns proactively to senior management and the Group legal function.
- Establish strong processes and controls while ensuring compliance with global policies and procedures.
- Maintain relationships with local and global business units, external advisors and third-party service providers.
- Effectively managing and mentoring the legal team, ensuring robust planning, training and motivation to deliver optimal results.
- Keep the team informed of pipeline projects, including global initiatives affecting Global Services and manage workload distribution effectively.
To be eligible for this role you will require:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience in banking & financial services legal departments. Experience in a Global Capability Center (GCC) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Indian and international legal and regulatory environments.
- Extensive experience in executing and negotiating complex internal and external contracts.
- Proven ability to work with senior global stakeholders, including Directors and MDs.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- An ability to navigate complex organizations and build strong relationships across business units.
- Experience of working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment with an international outlook.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Educational Qualification:
- Qualified and practicing lawyer.
