Job Description

Education Qualification

The candidate must have a Diploma or B.E./B.Tech degree with a specialization in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.

Role & responsibilities

1. Quality Assurance and Control

  • Establish QA/QC Procedures: Develop and implement quality assurance and control procedures for the project, ensuring compliance with client specifications, standards, and regulations.
  • Ensure Compliance with Standards: Ensure all construction activities, including land piling, follow industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IS codes, ASTM, BS).
  • Monitor Quality throughout the Project: Continuously monitor the quality of work, materials, and workmanship throughout the project lifecycle.

2. Inspection and Testing

  • Conduct Inspections: Inspect materials, work processes, and completed works on-site to ensure compliance with quality requirements and specifications.
  • Material Testing: Oversee and/or conduct tests on materials such as concrete, soil, aggregates, and steel to ensure they meet the required standards for the project.
  • Piling Work Inspection: Specifically for land piling projects, ensure that piling operations (e.g., bored piles, driven piles) are carried out according to design specifications and are structurally sound.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Oversee NDT methods like pile integrity testing, concrete testing, and other relevant tests to ensure the integrity and safety of the foundation works.

3. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain Quality Records: Maintain comprehensive records of all QA/QC activities, including inspection reports, test results, non-compliance reports, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare Quality Reports: Prepare regular quality control and quality assurance reports for project stakeholders, highlighting any quality issues and the actions taken.
  • Track Non-Conformance: Document any non-conformance or deviations from the project specifications, initiate corrective actions, and track them to resolution.
  • As-Built Documentation: Ensure that accurate as-built records are kept for all piling works and other construction activities for future reference and quality audits.

4. Quality Control of Materials and Suppliers

  • Material Inspection and Approval: Verify and inspect the materials used in construction, including those required for land piling (e.g., cement, steel, aggregates), to ensure they meet the necessary quality standards before they are used.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Assess and evaluate suppliers to ensure that the materials provided are of the required quality. This may involve checking certifications, factory inspections, and material testing.
  • Ensure Proper Storage and Handling: Ensure that materials are properly stored and handled on-site to avoid damage and maintain quality (e.g., preventing concrete from setting prematurely).

5. Quality Control in Land Piling Activities

  • Piling Installation Supervision: Monitor the land piling process to ensure that each pile is installed to the correct depth, alignment, and load-bearing specifications.
  • Piling Equipment Inspection: Regularly inspect piling equipment (e.g., drilling rigs, pile drivers) to ensure it is functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Monitor Pile Integrity: Ensure that the piling method used does not compromise the structural integrity of the pile. This includes inspecting piles for alignment, depth, and uniformity of concrete or grout.
  • Pile Load Testing: Supervise load testing of piles to verify the capacity of each pile and ensure it meets the design criteria.

6. Risk Management and Corrective Actions

  • Identify Quality Risks: Identify potential quality risks that could affect the project, including defects, material failures, or construction errors, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions: When quality issues arise, develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve them and prevent future occurrences.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis for any non-conformances or defects and recommend solutions for improvement.

7. Site Supervision and Coordination

  • Collaborate with Construction Teams: Work closely with the construction team, including site engineers, project managers, and supervisors, to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions or workshops for site personnel on quality standards, procedures, and safety requirements to ensure everyone is aligned on quality expectations.
  • Ensure Safe Work Practices: Monitor the site for adherence to safety standards and ensure that quality does not compromise safety on-site.

8. Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization

  • Improve Quality Processes: Continuously assess and improve quality assurance and quality control processes to enhance the efficiency of the project and reduce defects.
  • Benchmark Best Practices: Stay updated with the latest industry best practices and technological advancements in quality control to improve processes, including those relevant to land piling.
  • Lessons Learned: Identify lessons learned from past projects and apply them to improve quality management in future projects.

9. Coordination with External Auditors and Inspectors

  • Manage Audits: Coordinate and assist during internal and external quality audits to assess compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all QA/QC activities comply with regulatory and certification standards required for the project and meet client expectations.

10. Final Quality Assurance and Project Handover

  • Final Inspection: Conduct a final quality inspection of the completed project, including all piling works, to ensure that everything is up to specification and ready for client handover.
  • Handover Documentation: Provide all necessary documentation, including certificates, test results, and reports, to the client upon completion of the project.
  • Project Closure: Ensure that all quality-related issues have been resolved and that the project can be closed out successfully with no pending quality concerns.
