Safety Manager

Education Qualification

A Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical, Civil, or other related fields is required.

The candidate must have an ADIS or PDIS certification from a recognized State Board.

Role & responsibilities

1. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification

• Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards.
• Evaluate risks associated with construction activities and implement safety measures.
• Prepare and review hazard analyses for different tasks and processes on-site.

2. Safety Plan Development & Implementation

• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety programs and policies.
• Ensure that safety protocols are clearly communicated to all workers.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety standards.

3. Safety Training and Education

• Develop and deliver safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Ensure all workers are trained on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Offer training on specific hazards such as electrical safety, fall protection, confined space, etc.

4. Monitoring & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor adherence to safety practices.
• Document any violations and take corrective action when necessary.

5. Accident Investigation and Reporting

• Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and prevent future incidents.
• Prepare accident reports and safety violation reports as required by regulatory bodies.
• Work with insurance companies to manage claims and ensure all necessary paperwork is filed.

6. Emergency Response Planning

• Develop and implement emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid protocols.
• Ensure that emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first-aid kits) is accessible and operational.
• Coordinate with local emergency services if needed.

7. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Oversight

• Ensure workers have access to the appropriate PPE for each task.
• Monitor the proper use of PPE and enforce policies on its usage.
• Organize PPE audits and replace damaged or outdated equipment.

8. Documentation and Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate safety records, including safety meeting minutes, training logs, and incident reports.
• Keep detailed documentation of safety inspections and audits.
• Ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are met on time.

9. Collaboration with Project Management & Team Leaders

• Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and other team leaders to promote a safety culture.
• Provide guidance on how to safely execute construction plans and meet project deadlines.
• Ensure safety considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.

10. Promote Safety Culture

• Foster a safety-first mindset across the workforce.
• Lead by example and encourage open communication about safety concerns.
• Organize safety meetings and toolbox talks to keep safety at the forefront of daily operations.

11. Maintain Safety Equipment and Systems

• Oversee the maintenance and proper use of safety equipment, such as scaffolding, safety nets, and fall protection systems.
• Ensure all safety systems, such as fire alarms, signaling systems, and emergency exits, are functional.
