  • Position Grade: Manager (M)/ Assistant Manager (AM)
  • Direct Reports: None

2 Accountabilities

Conduct Production Analysis & Process Evaluation:

  • Analyze current production levels and processes across shipyard operations, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for optimization.
  • Evaluate key production metrics, comparing them with industry benchmarks to assess operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive adoption of lean manufacturing principles for optimum utilization of resources and reduction of wastages.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to recommend optimum production workflows, improve throughput, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance productivity.

Perform Optimization Feasibility Studies:

  • Assess the feasibility of potential optimization initiatives, conducting cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to evaluate the technical and operational impact of proposed changes.
  • Develop models and simulations to estimate the benefits and potential outcomes of recommended process improvements.

Conduct Risk Assessments & Identify Key Focus Areas:

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments across production processes, identifying areas that pose potential risks to efficiency, safety, and project timelines.
  • Evaluate operational data to detect patterns that indicate emerging risks or areas of concern.
  • Provide senior management with actionable insights into high-risk areas and recommend mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.

Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Work closely with the Head of Yard/Technical Services to identify and implement continuous improvement projects that drive operational excellence.
  • Monitor the progress and effectiveness of implemented changes, tracking improvements in productivity, cost-efficiency, and risk reduction.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within production teams, sharing insights and best practices to promote proactive problem-solving.

Develop & Present Reports to Senior Management:

  • Prepare detailed production analysis reports, summarizing key findings, areas of focus, and recommendations for process optimization.
  • Present data-driven insights to senior management, highlighting significant trends, risks, and opportunities for operational enhancement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports, aligning with the COO’s and senior management’s strategic goals for the shipyard.

Coordinate with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and project management teams to gather relevant data and insights on production activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical services and production departments, facilitating data sharing and supporting aligned decision-making.
  • Communicate regularly with other departments to understand challenges, gather feedback, and ensure alignment in process improvement initiatives.

Maintain & Enhance Data Systems for Production Monitoring:

  • Oversee the accuracy and reliability of production data, maintaining comprehensive records to support analysis.
  • Utilize production management software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools to extract, analyze, and interpret production data.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data collection and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in production tracking.

3 – Interactions and Working Relationships

Internal:

  • Head Yard/Technical Services: Report on production analysis, risk assessments, and optimization recommendations to support strategic objectives.
  • Chief Operating Officer (COO): Provide insights on key areas of focus and operational risks, aligning findings with the COO’s strategic goals.
  • Production & Engineering Teams: Collaborate closely to gather production data, evaluate process improvements, and assess the impact of optimization initiatives.
  • Project Management Team: Work with project managers to align production analysis with project timelines and identify areas to support project efficiency.
  • Quality Control & Compliance Teams: Coordinate on ensuring data accuracy, compliance with standards, and quality in production processes.

External:

  • Industry Benchmarking Bodies: Engage with industry benchmarking organizations or research firms to gather relevant comparative data.
  • Consultants or Technical Experts: Collaborate to validate analysis or gain specialized insights for complex optimization studies.

5 – Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in Data Analysis, Six Sigma, or Project Management are advantageous.

Preferred Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in production analysis, process improvement, or operations management, preferably within shipbuilding, heavy engineering, or a similar industry.
  • Proven experience in conducting process evaluations, risk assessments, and presenting findings to senior management.

Functional and Behavioral Competencies:

  • Production Analysis & Optimization: Strong understanding of production metrics, process analysis, and optimization techniques to drive efficiency.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Proficiency in data analysis tools, ERP systems, and production management software for tracking and interpreting production data.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments, identify high-risk areas, and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
  • Project Coordination: Skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams, aligning production insights with project timelines, and managing improvement initiatives.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, ERP systems, and production management software for accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Presentation & Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting data-driven insights to senior management and stakeholders.
