Naval Architect

Job Title : Naval Architect

Location : Pipavav (Gujarat)

• Naval Architect develops designs of marine vessels and floating structures, such as ships, barges, tugs, etc., and performs calculations necessary to assist in the design and fabrication of such vessels.
• Coordinates activities of ship design related to new building, conversion or repair projects to ensure that the goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
• Independently performs work that requires conventional engineering but may also perform more complex engineering work and technical supervision. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Assess project requirements and research feasibility
2. Responsibilities as a minimum include design and engineering activities to develop ship preliminary design, functional design, detailed design, and integrating the work of structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines in compliance with Class rules and other applicable industry standards.
3. Produce detailed designs of ships, boats and other maritime vessels using drawings and specialist computer software
4. Develop and utilize test procedures including computer modelling and scale models
5. Interpret and analyze data and test results

• Qualification : B.E./ B.Tech Degree in Naval Architecture

• Experience : 5 years of experience in any shipyard/ship repair facility/design consultancy firm.

• Skills needed: Integrated CAD/CAM software programs such as NAPA/FORAN/TRIBON/AVEVA MARINE. FE Analysis software programs such as ANSYS/FEMAP/STADPRO
