Assistant Manager Accounts Payable

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Manager - Accounts Payables to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable functions, financial reconciliation, and payment processing. In this role, you will manage the full accounts payable cycle, maintain vendor relationships, ensure accurate and timely payments, and supervise junior staff. You will also contribute to financial reporting and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Payable Management:

• Oversee the complete accounts payable process, including invoice verification, payment processing, and maintaining supplier records.
• Ensure all payments are made within the agreed-upon credit terms and in line with company policies.
• Review and authorize payments to suppliers, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

2. Vendor Reconciliation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate supplier-wise reconciliation and monitor the aging control of outstanding balances.
• Prepare and submit detailed monthly accounts payable reports, including aging reconciliation status, to the management team.

3. Team & Process Management:

• Supervise, train, and guide junior accounts payable staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Identify process inefficiencies and discrepancies, implementing corrective actions and improvements.
• Ensure the team adheres to company policies, internal controls, and meets payment deadlines.

4. Vendor Relationships:

• Liaise with vendors to resolve payment-related queries, track outstanding balances, and ensure positive supplier relationships.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve disputes, ensure accurate invoicing, and address any payment discrepancies.

5. Ad-Hoc Responsibilities:

• Assist with periodic audits or internal checks as required.
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, and support to the broader finance team as needed.

Qualifications:

Educational Qualifications:

• M.Com in Finance or equivalent. MBA Finance & Accounts CMA etc

Certifications/Training:

• Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
• Strong financial modeling skills.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.

Experience:

• Minimum 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in Accounts Payables or a related financial function.
• In-depth understanding of accounting principles and best practices, particularly in accounts payable.
• Prior experience with vendor reconciliation, aging control, and payment processing.
