About The Role : We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis Chef specializing in Japanese cuisine to join our culinary team in Chennai, India. As a Commis Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the preparation of authentic Japanese dishes.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of various Japanese dishes under the guidance of senior chefs
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
Properly handle and store ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service
Learn and apply Japanese cooking techniques and presentation skills
Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
Participate in menu development and recipe standardization
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Adapt to a fast-paced kitchen environment and manage time effectively
Qualifications
Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
Food safety certification
Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques
Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic kitchen equipment operation
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
