Interview Preparation Tips
Round: Test
Experience: Basic verbal and logical reasoning questions were asked and provided time is sufficient enough to complete.
Duration: 30 minutes
Total Questions: 30
Round: Test
Experience: This test is to measure individuals metal capabilities and behavior styles. Be frank in answering them.
Tips: Go for the answer that came across your mind first. Never think deeply for these kind of tests.
Duration: 30 minutes
Total Questions: 50
Round: Group Discussion
Experience: By this time I was familiar with how to form a good group discussions. So, I waited for every one to come up with their points first and then channelized them to particular direction This made none of them to loose track. I used to back their points if others are moving away from the topic. Finally I concluded and everyone agreed upon it. It was peaceful discussion. After that I was the first one to get shortlisted for PI.
Tips: Never move away from the topic. Always try to channelize your points for a better understanding and for a peaceful discussion.
Duration: 20 minutes
Round: Technical + Hr Interview
Experience: It was one of my best Interviews so far during our placement season. Both HR and Technical guy made me comfortable. It started with some basic HR questions like "Tell me about yourself?" followed by my internship projects and automobile industry questions like SI engines, Otto cycles, emission norms in India, power train, suspension. While I was answering my technical questions, HR was observing the way I was answering and depending on them, HR started asking some situation based questions. As I was fully prepared for HR questions I gave them spontaneously and frankly. Both HR and Technical guy were really impressed. Interview went on for 1:30 hrs and then I was given a chance to ask questions. Which I utilized very much, by asking them various company related questions. I was the only one to get selected from IIT G.
Tips: Be frank. Never answer a question if you know only half of it, it does no good. Be confident.
Skills: Behavioural Skills, Technical Skill And Speaking Skill, Leadership Skills, Confidence
College Name: IIT Guwahati
Motivation: GM is an American multinational corporation headquartered at Detroit. Rich 107 years of history, with a market share of 19%. It is one of the world's 3rd largest automaker with four major brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick. A dream company for any mechanical engineer.

Experience: The selection process for post graduate students started with group discussion. The eligible students were divide into groups of 10 or 12. A general topic was given to be discussed (E.g. Role of women in society, computers kill creativity etc). At the end of the discussion, the representative of the company might ask some queries to a few of the students (two or three), based on their statements in the GD.
Tips: Do’s: Write down your points in a piece of paper. Speak them clearly when you get your chance. Try to make your points brief, clear and relevant.
Don’ts: Do not try to overdo things. Please keep in mind that you ought to give opportunities to other group members.
Round: Test
Experience: You will be given a form and will be asked to tick your qualities. Please do it honestly. This was not an elimination round. In fact this was not found relevant in the whole process of recruitment.
Round: Interview
Experience: There were two representatives of the company in the interview panel-one from technical section and the other from HR. The technical part of the interview was mostly based on the topic (There could be extra questions if your CGPA is low). A relevant topic could help (If the topic is relevant, mention it in your CV as well). The HR questions were very straightforward. They might ask certain things from your CV as well. The location preference was one prime concern for them. HERO MOTOCORP is setting up a new R&D division in Jaipur and so wanted people to be willing to go to Jaipur. So they were very keen to know if we had any problem in working at Jaipur.
General Tips: Though CGPA is not the prime criteria of HERO MOTOCORP, we were told that they were looking for an optimum combination of different parameters (they didn’t reveal the parameters). Project topic can help a lot, especially if it is of interest to the company. Being a good team man and good communicator would help as group discussion would be the first step in the recruitment process.
Skill Tips: Proficiency in CFD softwares could help
College Name: IIT KHARAGPUR

The company sponsors post-graduation in South Korea followed by a global assignment. They are specifically looking for people with leadership qualities and the ability to take initiatives. Good communication skills are a must.
General Tips: Be prepared for a four year bond after post-graduation
