Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: The resume was shortlisted based on the courses done related to economics and finance
Tips: Resume should contain something related to economics or finance

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: Initially we were told that there will be three round of interviews. But on the day of interview it was reduced to a single HR interview. The questions asked was from wherever the interviewer found the words economics and finance. I had done my M,tech project on risk analysis in metro project, a course project on High-Speed rail and took a course on Behavioral economics. They asked only basic level question of details regarding the my project which I was able to explain to them easily.
They were basically looking for candidates inclined to MBA and finance related course and having good communication skills.
Once I completed the interview I felt really satisfied.
The HR personally called me and congratulated me on getting selected and welcomed me to be a part of Deloitte.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: A total of two questions were to be solved in a duration of 5 days. Both the questions were programming based and required knowledge of data-structures and algorithms.
Tips: Though it was mentioned that solving any one of the two questions should ensure interview shortlist, only those who solved both the questions were shortlisted. So, ensure that you solve both the questions. In the worst case, by brute force.
Total Questions: 2

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: This round involved solving two programming questions. Both the questions involved writing code on their editor, compiling it and running for few test cases provided by them.
Tips: 1) Make sure you practice writing more and more code during your preparation rather than passively reading/thinking of solution to coding questions
2) Make sure you 'think aloud' during the interview (discuss your approach/progress you have made regarding the question) even when you are stuck so that the interviewer can guide you to the correct direction. However, please don't confuse this with abruptly speaking of any solution that comes to you mind. Relax and take your time but don't hesitate to speak to the interviewer when stuck
3) Discuss the approach with the interviewer before proceeding to code your final solution
4) Write a readable code with proper variable naming, code reuse
5) Dry run your solution on few basic and corner test cases before flagging a question as done!

Round: HR Interview
Experience: This was an easy round. HR asked be few questions from my resume. After that a long discussion on work culture of the company and kind of profile I will like to work on.
Tips: Just speak honestly in this round. It will be a cake-walk then.

Round: Test
Experience: This is the last round where you are given a booklet of 30 questions on 10th level maths and mental ability questions and are asked to solve it in 60 minutes.
Tips: Time will be sufficient so ensure you don't commit silly mistakes
Duration: 1 hour

-----?id=0ByKxHuncAN4HcENlWFJubUN1LWc
Tips: Remember, you only have to do 1 or 2 section well. These sections are individually timed. So if you dont like ML and you want to spend more time in quant then, see the question in quant section, go to the ML section and solve it there, again come back to quant and mark the answer.

SO DONT FORGET TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE SECTIONS.

I'm sharing you a doc, which contains all the test questions asked by different companies (including goldman sachs) in different IITs. Just search "Goldman Sachs" in the doc and you'll find all the questions of the test. :)

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Everyone who applied for the company were allowed to give the test. The test was in similar lines as that of CAT (Quant, DI, LR and stuff).
Tips: Try the TIME material (or any other aptitude test material for preparation), Indiabix is an another website for aptitude tests. The more tests you give the more weak points you'll find and the more you can improve on them.
There are a lot of tips available online (far more better than what I could give)

Round: Other Interview
Experience: They directly shortlisted 7 of us for the interview directly from the test. The interview started with some HR questions and they started asking me stuff to test my problem solving skills like the questions that I mentioned in this section. Later, moved on to ask about my experience at the internship and started walking through my resume for some more questions.
Tips: Just be honest and try not to panic if you don't have the solution immediately. Take a 10 second break if need to think (Trust me, this small break goes a long way if you happen to get stuck somewhere)

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Out the 7, they shortlisted 5 for the 2nd round of Interview. This one was very typical to the HR round. Asked me about my hobbies and went in detail for each one of them and then about my future career plans.
Tips: Be honest. That's it!

General Tips: Be patient. Irrespective of the number of interviews you give, you will eventually get the job that suits you the best.
Skills: Ability To Be Involved In Hands On Work, Ability To Justify, Ability To Express Your Ideas, Ability To Analyse, Entrepreneurial Skills, Problem Solving Abilties, Problem Solving Skills, Aptitude
College Name: IIT Bombay
Motivation: Wanted to get into consulting. Didn't get shortlisted in top tier consults. Deloitte is not bad either and is at par with top consults recently
