Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was a general aptitude test consisting of quants, verbal ability and logical reasoning. It was moderately difficult.
Tips: I didn't prepare anything. It was a general aptitude test in which I was quite comfortable. But, it is always good to have some practice.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: 8 members were part of the GD. As in any other GD, the main thing that the panelists were looking for was confidence. If you
are able to put forth your views in a confident manner, you are through. Just make sure not to be overly aggressive and not to make any personal remarks. Stay calm and composed.
Duration: 15 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: It was a 20-30 minute round. Questions were mainly regarding project and the courses. A lot of questions on strength of materials, vibrations, and engineering mechanics. Although I was not able to answer a few questions, still I was selected. They were mainly looking at your approach, confidence and interest in their company. Finally, the interviewer asked some HR questions as well.
Tips: Revise some basic strength of materials and vibrations. Also take your friends' help to conduct mock interviews. That really helps. You would know where exactly are you going wrong and the means to improve yourself.

General Tips: I think they were looking for someone who could work in fatigue damage analysis. Since my project was related to it, I think I had an advantage. Moreover, I feel my performance in GD impressed them. Being confident throughout the process helped.
They were mainly looking for knowledge in strength of materials, design, vibrations and finite element analysis.
Skill Tips: I started my preparations in November. For me, one or two weeks was enough. But, it is always good to start earlier.
