Equal pay can be strong motivator for some, but it doesn;t always make fair merit-based raises. Many times, evaluations are done to make everyone;s performance fit into a similar pattern, which works well in tough times but may not be suitable all the time.

Parity in salaries is a strong motivator for some but doesn't justify the merit based increase. Most of the evaluations are based to generally align a common bell-curve which is positive during a learn year but not everytime.
