Work-life balance is worst and product release plan are done in Australia without considering available resource and time which leads to overtime working even though company policy prohibiting overtime. Root cause of this culture: 1.Local management takes no ownership of resources. 2.Employees fear retaliation to say no to unrealistic timeline set by Australia counter part. 3.There is unofficial competition between teams( product owner) in Australia to deliver more for their growth. Please note that their is no external customer for these product and no demand to deliver on any specified time, few exception may be there due to regulator requirement. 4.The Product owners in Australia are Indians who are from service based companies like HCL, TCS. Poor leadership, favoritism, and mismanagement fuel inefficiency. Senior managers waste time, hire based on bias, and assign irrelevant tasks. Hard work goes unrewarded—no hikes, no promotions. Desk IT support team are mostly absent from front desk and they pass issue from one to another one, leaving critical issues unresolved. Surveys are pointless as no action is taken. 1)No promotion scope even if you are working hard in a project for long time, you have to apply for senior position and give interview. And if they like you or you are favourite then you will get promotion 2) manager thinks they are god here. If they dont like you they will force you to resign. You will get likr 50% of it. 4) you have to wait for 15 months to get hike and bonus 5) They will ask you to change your skills and learn something which is not your skills whether you wanna learn it or not. This company is very good for the people who are fully settled in Bangalore or the native Bengaluru people, especially for women. Work-life balance is well maintained as most of the time you will not have any work. CBA has recently started its existing system migration to the cloud but the pace of the transition is very slow. So if you can make a good rapport with the top brass then you will get the opportunity to work on those technologies. When I got hired in CBA back in 2022 that time what ever the benefits the hiring HR promised most of them were vague. There is huge amount of your CTC will be part of the veriable pay(which they called STVR), 20% of the fixed amount. It is non-negotiable. Also as per the company policy no one will get 100% percent of the STVR. On an avarage you will get maximum 50% of the STVR. CBA is very much confuse about their choice of technology. They are hiring people with very serious designation but eventually the candidate is end with silly excel report. For an example most of the Data engineers in the organisation are just running jobs and monitor them as pert of their daily work. Quality engineers are running same test cases daliy. Dangerous workplace which is driven by EM and GM, job safety is not there at all. Great Innovation and change management, however, the pace also creates havoc in work workplace where the job they recruited 6 months ago becomes irrelevant and redundant. For Indian sentiment, this company is too low in rank compared to many American and European companies.

Well, comm bank is newly set up in India. They are still struggling to transition projects from Australia. If things doesn't go with there way, they can release you immediately. I am the prime example of this. Our entire team has been laid off recently. They believe in hire and fire rules. No one can predict the future in comm bank specifically in India.

Dislikes

The environment is very toxic and I am not even kidding. People from ANZ regretting their decision after joining Commonwealth India. They said atleast we had job security in ANZ but here they can fire you anyday so whoever is joining make sure you give 100 percent everyday. Everyday means you have to give everyday.

The work life balance is decent. Middle management is good and supportive.

Dislikes

The culture in operations is borderline toxic. They'll give you a bunch of additional work which will impact your core KPI and won't even give you diverts for it. Some people in senior management (Indian) seem to favor people from one religious group in particular

No proper facilities, They neglect basic requirements for the employees If you just want money and want to commit carrier suicide then you can join here. No growth in regards to carrier aspects and their competition doesn't even wanna hire you If you feel something is not right and when you speak up you will be pulled down and will be punished for speaking up. Keep quite and do the work even if it means duplication of efforts or it will be something good for the organisation. Logic doesn't work over here, they say they want curious mindset but they will kill your curiosity the moment you join the company. They throw around things like performance improvement plans like it's nothing. For eg a person got an error for one month the very next month they got put into PIP. They want people to work like robots and they also check your break timings pulling reports how long you are away from the system.
