Dislikes

Extended working hours on almost daily basis. Sincere employees are overburdened with work while the insincere ones just enjoy. No time for self learning due to long working hours. Appraisal is based on office politics and not credibility.

There are learning and development opportunities via udemy and internal platforms but the team management doesn't provide time to utilise the same.

This openion limited to Staff Augmentation vertical - 10 hrs work culture takes 12 hrs to satisfy the unrealistic expectations and poorly managed processes. Too many unfair and biased approach by almost all TLs TMs and SDMs. If you are an outsider for positions beyond SPE you wouldn't be welcomed and treated well, tenured and competitors in the org will sabotage your growth.

I work in software testing as an automation plus manual tester. Nowadays there are many manual testers don't have opportunities in projects because projects are looking for those candidates who works in both! And what cognizant is doing that they show the client that candidate has experienced in both auto and manual and share fake profile with them. They just take normal interviews and select us. But once you get the projects, you will have lot of work which you never did earlier. And continuous work pressure will be there. Due to this there is no work life balance at all. We need to available with clients timings. I would request you my friends that if you don't know some things or not aware about any technology then just say no to the interview. They will surely prepare you from interview perspective but the work is not easy as we think. Once you get the client project then they won't even ask you how it's going.. I joined Cognizant as a fresher and it’s a best place for starting your career. Culture is very good maybe because of company USA origin. I got good ratings for my hard work without any politics.

Overall typical service based company, with lower appraisal %, ideal to stay for 3 years max, else growth would be stopped compared to market and you will be in comfort zone.

Appraisal cycle is worst, they do rating in Dec month and release in Jan, but appraisal will be in impact from June salary. Promotion is a problem here, and you will have to cry every year. It takes minimum 3 years once u r at one level to expect promotion.

No work life balance. No projects in company so they silently fires. Not so good culture. Not so get promotion(1-5%hike only) or no benefits (whole year). Not that much bonus yearly.

I had been worked in cognizant for almost 2.9 years. Overall it was good to work with cognizant , up and downs were there but during my bench period I learned too many technologies that help me to grow in personal and professional growth thankful that cognizant have free Udemy access however each and everyone can learn the new technologies.
