I’m working with American Express for the past two years and I intend to stay here for the next 10yrs I would say, that’s how is my experience with American Express! I love the work culture, the leaders are approachable,you get multiple opportunities for your personal and career development.

Employee centric, open door policy, plethora of personal development options, enviable work life balance, the list goes on. No other company can come close to all these offered here in Amex.

Dislikes

The cafeteria food could be improved a lot.

American Express is a brand and has lot to offer you . Moreover the new campus has world class amenities .

The problem with amex is that many department are understaffed and they don't hire people resulting into employees cannot take leaves or has to work more hours to show there productivity

Amazing company to work with. Monetary benefits are really good. Insurance and yearly appraisals are greatly appreciated. Perks are good and play crucial role in employee’s motivation. If you are lucky you will get good managers and work journey would be smooth and promising. Amex is a wonderful company and people in higher management i.e. above band 40 are employee centric.

Dislikes

Work culture of every management is different. Few are really appreciating their team members and few will micromanage and do not support. Few teams do not recognise their employee’s effort. Favouritism will be easily seen. If you make good relationship with manager then good work will come to you and you will be appreciated on regular basis. You will get chance to be in meetings with higher management and that increases visibility.If no good terms with management then they will suppress your good work and no recognition for your extraordinary performance in RnRs. After-all your rating is in their hands. Goal’s rating is under employee’s control but Leadership rating is under your manager’s control. Managers can intentionally ruin rating as they dislike that particular. They wont let to take internal movement. They will give bad feedback so that you dont clear IJPs and leave company with self doubt....Read More

Same typical egotistic managers who hide behind the aura of helping rather than actually helping. No job security at Amex. Appraisals are basis how you get along with your bosses.

Mostly, we work on cutting edge technology

Dislikes

I dislike toxic managers like Vikas Malhotra - who promotes only favoritism. He tends to recognize colleagues based on personal preferences rather than their talents and capabilities. He promotes only those who praise him, while the rest of us suffer under his leadership. This environment is not conducive to growth or collaboration, and I believe it impacts team morale negatively.

American Express always encourage a work-life balance culture, whether you are hired as FTE or contractor for the organization. It gives an ample amount of opportunities to grow which is impecible for any tenured or a fresher employee.

Dislikes

I guess apart from limited access to system for contractors is the only restriction which doesn't allow contractors to learn more about internal domain knowledge

Large enterprise hence culture is good and provide job security

Dislikes

Work life balance depends on the projects in Technology and hence many times, it becomes bad, appraisals are mostly in higher single digits or lower double digits maximum. Promotions are usually given based on favouritism.
