Salary Discussion

I am moving from Canada to India, and do hold work experience of 3 years in the IT Risk Management, GRC, Audit having the CISA too with Master's Degree in Cybersecurity. The thing is i was expecting 15-20 LPA in the India, but most HR's say the budget they have is only 10-13 LPA, am I expecting more/ I should switch to other cybersecurity related domain.

Your expectations are reasonable given your international experience and certifications. You might need to target MNCs or fintech firms that value global exposure more.

IT Risk & GRC roles in India do tend to cap around 10-13 LPA for 3 years of experience. Have you explored niche cybersecurity roles like Cloud Security or Incident Response? They pay higher.

Try negotiating based on your international experience. If the market isn't meeting your expectations, you could consider contract roles or switching to a more in-demand cyber domain.

10-13 LPA is the common “budget excuse” they throw. MNCs and Big 4 firms might match 15+, but you’ll have to hold out for the right role.

GRC ka scope hai, but if you want top $$$, pivot towards cloud security, red teaming, or security architecture.

Bro, Indian HRs love “budget constraints.” Push for a better offer or explore consulting gigs security pays well when you go independent!

Honestly with your experience CISA and Master’s, 15 to 20 LPA seems fair but salaries in India can vary a lot. The 10 to 13 LPA range is pretty common for mid level roles.
