Predatory practices by Swiggy to mislead customers
I was ordering on Swiggy and I noticed the app added a tip by itself. I unchecked the 'Add this tip automatically to future orders' box and cleared my cart to see if it gets added again, and what do I see? I see the tip had been added again! I closed the app and tried to add to cart from a different restaurant and same story was repeated.
My issue is not tips here but the sneaky way Swiggy tried to add a tip on it's own without my consent and every time I built my cart again, it added a tip automatically even though the add tip to future orders box was left unchecked. If one is not vigilant, one may end up paying a tip on their orders.
Also, the uncheck box is not visible directly, one has to tap on price breakdown to see a tip has been added without their consent, click on Tip and unselect the tip and uncheck the box.
This is really pathetic!🤦♂️

Ya quick commerce apps se ice cream (jo zada discount dede)
Nahi to back to redi food
2 saal se zomato ne discount ni diya koi, stopped using,
Mere ghar ke pass wala dominos khul gya
Naya McDonald's khula, uspe itni bheed aagyi, 20min+ lagte hai ek 100 wala mean prepare hone mei, wo bhi dine in
Swiggy bhi usi race me hi hai, restaurants jaan ke Swiggy orders mei kam quantity ya messed up food dete hai, kyuki unhe pata hai customer support ghatia level ka hai. Kuch to hoga nahi
Sabse badiya apna bahar nikal ke kuch kha lo, ye sare apps hogye hai, Magicpin hai jo thoda decent hai
Sari baate price to quality ratio ke context mei ki gayi hai🙏🏿

They probably want to encourage tips so that they can get away with paying less to their drivers.

You know, Restaurant with actual business (not the cloud kitchen) has their food prices inflated in Zomato & Swiggy.

I think u will have to complete the order and then pay for it, put it as 0 tip and uncheck the box. Then it should update. I'm not sure if this option is checked by default coz i use Zomato. And honestly it has been some time since i saw the save tip for next time so don't even remember. The part where it is not updating Ur preference is bad implementation, but it being checked by default is bad practice.

I am guessing it never saves if you set the tip amt to 0. try setting it to 1-2 and checking the option.
also you need to check the box for it to save your preference. unchecking it just means this change is just for this specific order.
