Is This Just a Bad Manager or a Sign to Leave?

I started my first job a few months ago remote, no proper training, just straight to work. My manager? Let’s just say, he has a style. He makes weird jokes to get a reaction, gossips about colleagues (I stay quiet), and yells at me and my teammates over the smallest things. If I don’t react, he gets even more irritated. One time, he said I “take advantage of being a girl” and that he wouldn’t “spare me” if I were a guy… whatever that means. Lunch breaks? Apparently, 20 minutes is okay, but 40 minutes is pushing it. Feedback? Always comes right before log-off time. Every time he comes online, my stress level skyrockets. So, tell me, is this just normal workplace chaos, or should I start updating my resume?

This is beyond a "bad manager" some of this behavior is inappropriate and unprofessional. If you can, document everything and consider looking for a healthier work environment.

Workplace chaos is one thing, but personal remarks and yelling cross the line. If this behavior persists, leaving might be the best option for your well-being.

Yelling, weird jokes, and sexist comments? Nah, you deserve way better. Run while you can!

Not gonna lie, this sounds like a toxic mess. You could try addressing it, but if nothing changes, it’s probably not worth sticking around.

Look, some managers are strict, but this guy sounds like he enjoys making work miserable. No harm in seeing what else is out there!

That “wouldn’t spare you if you were a guy” comment? That’s borderline workplace harassment. If your company has a reporting structure, consider flagging it before deciding to leave.

Sometimes bad managers teach us what kind of leader we don’t want to be. If leaving isn’t an immediate option, focus on gaining experience and networking for a smoother transition.
