How to Advance in Operations?🥲
Hi, I'm 29 and currently working in operations at a non-tech company. I'm feeling a bit stuck and unsure about my career path. I've been in this role for a few years, and while I've gained experience, I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing out on opportunities for growth and higher earnings.
Many of my peers in the AmbitionBox community seem to be making significant strides in their careers, and I'm concerned that I'm falling behind.
I'm not sure what the next steps are for me in operations. Should I focus on acquiring new skills, seeking a promotion within my current company, or exploring opportunities at other organizations?
Any advice or insights from the community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks🙂

I was earning 15 LPA at 6 years. Going by your standard I should have been crying every day!! In a community, the top 10% earning people of corporate India keep flexing their package. If you keep comparing yourself to them, you will always feel miserable.

It's a fair share of luck and skill. It's not solely dependent on skillset. Do not compare your story to others. It will only move you down a rabbit hole you cannot get out of.

Look into certifications or courses in areas like Lean Six Sigma, supply chain management, or project management (PMP). These can make you stand out and help you take on more strategic roles.

Yrr it's so difficult to manage everything with slow growth and minimum salary. It also affects you mentally. Just curious to know how you are managing everything ??

It's advisable to explore opportunities outside your current organization if you feel unnoticed.
While an internal promotion may offer a new position, the salary increase is often less than 20%.
On the other hand, seeking opportunities elsewhere could provide a better role with a more substantial pay increase.

Look for opportunities and keep switching jobs once in 1.5-2 yrs to get a decent hike to your salary. Don't compare yourself with others, grass is always greener on the other side. You never know how stressed they are when they flex their salaries. Is the current pay package enough and are you happy with your workplace ? Ask these questions to yourself 👍
