Deadend

Hi, I'm here to share a part of my journey from the past 12 years in my career, I started from a package of 3.6LPA in 2013 at iGate and due to a few bad decisions on my career and worthless advices from people who are always pessimistic about the industry, I switched two companies and landed in a start-up with 2.4LPA. I worked hard nearly 8-16hrs a day single handed researched, built and managed an entire vertical of a project for 8 years. When the company didn't value my contribution and thought I was too young to become a manager, I had a package of 6LPA and Senior developer in designation. I switched for obvious reasons to a TL role for 12LPA and now at the same company I'm a TPM on the basis of my contribution with 48LPA as a fixed component. I feel outclassed in terms of having a fancy CV with certifications, I feel like CTC has hit a peak with 48LPA being fixed and nearly 40% in Variable. Most companies are hesitant to hire me because of this. What should be my next move?

No, I don’t think it’s a peaked pay for 12 yrs of experience, you can grow even more. I’m getting 43LPA that on 6yrs of experience. Try remote roles that pay you in higher currency.

summary of the expected salary range for a project manager with architect exposure and 15 years of experience in India: General Range: ₹35-50 LPA (Lakhs per Annum) Tech Hubs (Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi-NCR): ₹45-70 LPA1 Smaller Cities: ₹25-40 LPA Top Companies: ₹40-48 LPA I have below questions if someone answer, it will be very helpful. Can you provide the names of companies that are known to offer these salary ranges for cloud architects with 15 years of experience? Are there any specific tech giants or leading firms where these numbers have been reported? Are there any industry reports, salary surveys, or benchmarks that support these salary ranges for cloud technologists?

[a technical architect](username) It's hard to pin point such companies and say it is for certain. It has been a trending practice for many companies to post their budget range in job portals such as Naukri, indeed, Glassdoor. AmbitionBox also has such relevant data but could be outdated or wouldn't have any open position. On a serious note, most of these pay Packages are just CTC with ESOPs, Variable Pay and what not. Through experience it's always best to ask for a high basic pay till you reach 40LPA+ first since at this point any more raise just keeps adding more tax and the in-hand raise is almost negligible. Another advice is that you don't get into fancy startups that are funded with no clients, because it'll be shortlived and you'll find in a situation where your next jump would involve paycuts. Startup companies that you should look for are Uber, Ola, Flipkart, Zomato where they run and thrive on cloud environments and have a fair interview system on knowledge against hyped intelligence which is never put in practice.

[kiamimomo](username) Do you really think he needs an executive MBA when relevant experience and targeted skills could get him the same growth without the hefty investment?

[butterymojito](username) There are plenty of programme in MBA which are probably completed by ones who are working as directors in one of the org....so investment is not just a thing it will also improve the appearance of people in the world full of curiosity.

I totally understand your position. You have to accept the fact that you won't get a 20-30% hike when you change now. Job calls will not be very easy to come by. Some HRs will even try to convince you that you are highly overpaid. Referrals are your best bet. Salary will be a mixture of fixed, variable and stock components. You must be extra careful when evaluating the offer. Before accepting any offer make sure that you evaluate the company thoroughly. Because the next time you go looking out for a job, things will get tougher

Therefore the lesson is "Don't play with a workaholic". And there are more hardworking persons are suffering in some companies, try to help them out to achieve atleast 24 LPA. You're next move will be "Helping Hand" as a good startup.

[gingersoda](username) I wouldn't say I'm suffering but yeah, I now concentrate on living my dreams rather than chasing after them. From a home to a trip across the world, most of the middle class dreams! I could definitely help people achieve 24LPA but they probably would prefer all these fast track courses instead.

At this kind of salary you should be now focusing for higher positions like CEO or CXO not for new TPM or you should have a skill which 1% people in the country. OR You should be looking for mental peace

Joining a FAANG company or a startup like Zepto can be highly rewarding, as they offer packages exceeding 1 crore. I know individuals earning approximately 1 crore or even more.

[refreshingolive](username) Both FAANG companies and startups like Zepto can offer lucrative packages, but the choice depends on your career goals, growth opportunities, and work-life balance preferences.

Some organizations value skills over years of experience. Look for companies that offer growth opportunities and fair compensation. Focusing only on higher pay might leave you stuck in an unsatisfying role. Choose a place with steady financial growth and learning opportunities to stay satisfied in the long run

In our field we always need to get ourselves updated and aware of the coming technologies. So always in a learning mode is what you can consider yourself. Try pursuing some skills which has long trend over the years. You can get a MS for same and try for better roles in a big tech company.
