Afraid of choosing the wrong path on my first step (Fresher) (2 months as an intern)
Hi everyone, I'm a Mechatronics Graduate. I love literally anything that's challenging and interesting to work at. But i got an issue there, i rattle my brain a lot ; I'm obsessed to understand my work to the point i try to play with the work to find a optimal/lazy approach to do the same work but effective. I love working towards that but the problem here is that peers think that i'm goofing around while i work even overnight to find the solution that satisfies me. This attitude of mine creates an in-subordinate/Rebel image to my peers and boss that lead to this scenario, " What are you doing, why am i not seeing any progress while you sit all day here. What did you do ". I do complete my work in time but i do a 'bit of zoning out' around them, trying to understand the purpose and parameters that are available in my work and stuff. I try to explain this to my boss but he thinks it's a nuisance and waste of time😓.
Now I'm afraid of choosing the wrong career path.

Do you think there's a way to translate your 'zoning out' process into something more understandable?

Are you sure this company is the right fit for you? Or are you just trying to force yourself into a situation that's not working?

To show you're really working on those optimizations, try quickly noting down the existing process, the issues you see, your better approach, and any tests you run, it'll make your thinking visible to everyone.
